PRETTY! Can't wait to see this aircraft at PNS!

Have some questions, if anyone would care to answer....
-Will this aircraft operate from PHX or CLT or both?
-Have many passenger seats are on Mesa's CR9?
-How many CR9s does Mesa operate? (Any on Order?)

Thanks!

Is this aircraft Ex-AW? I don't remember seeing CR9's in US Colors pre-merger.

Yes it is. It was/is operated by the HP-side YV.

AV8RPHX, thanks for posting the news and photo's. Do you or anyone else on here know when further deliveries of CR9's to Mesa are scheduled as I would think any new deliveries would be in the new US scheme ?

Thanks

Are the latest CR9s (and remaing 8 on order) delivered equipped with the Enhanced Performance Package or are they all the standard version? Will Mesa exercise any more options on the CR9?

Are Mesa's "America West Express" flights still operated as "America West Express" or are they called US Airways Express now?

You'd better hope not. They're the most uncomfortable jets in the sky. 86-seat sardine cans.

It all depends on the routing but I'd assume you'll see this a/c out east soon. I know this morning it is going PHX/MCI/PHX.

By the way.. for those of you curious.. the interior is still in AWA colors.

Huh? I'm sure you are correct in saying this, but isn't that redundant? I could see US Airways Express operated by Mesa. But US Airways Express operated by America West Express? Aren't those "Express" names just 'covers' anyways?

Yeah its redundant and it just confuses already confused passengers, the poor folks can barely navigate the terminal, let alone trying to figure out what airline they are actually flying on now.

The America West Express name is still used in announcements because the flights are still primarily sold as HP flights. The US flights are only included in the announcements and sometime on the tickets if customers book it that way. The boarding passes have the HP number on it. In TUS our flight displays in the airport show both flight numbers. Until we merge our systems however, they will probably still be sold primarily with HP numbers. Yes people get confused. We are supposed to stop using "America West". When someone comes up to the counter I ask them if they are checking in for US Airways and they usually say..."No I'm on America West". hehe I just shrug and say "Yes you are in the right place."

The paint job looks great! Looks better than the Air Whiskey CRJs. The ZW birds have the grey stripes on the back too dark. This looks much better from the design standpoint.

Thumbs up Mesa. Big grin

I wouldn't agree... But maybe that's because when I flew ONT-LAS on a CRJ-900 in November, I had an entire row to myself for the first time in years! ...Not to mention it was about a 55 minute flight, but still...

My experience has been a mixed bag. A couple of months ago I flew on a Mesa CR7 PDX-PHX. The padding was so thin, and the seats felt terrible. My rear end was alternating between feelings of pain and numbness. Last week was totally different. I flew on a CR2 PHL-DTW on ZW and found the seats to be quite comfortable.

Couldn't have been a mesa, the CR7 are all in the united system. Maybe on a QX (I don't know if they fly CR7's on that route)

I have not been to RDU in a while, so I do not know if they have started receiving flights from the CJ9s but I am booked on one RDU-CLT the first week in March, so if they had not made their way all the way east yet, they will be soon.

After the mereger is complete will they have held onto and repainted all of the CRJs or are they going to sell off some of them? I guess what I am asking is, are they going to have to many?

I know for a fact that it will operate flights to CLT as I will be on one (STL-CLT) on 2.11.06 on my way to TPA! Hopefully, it will sport the new corporate livery!

Although I dread the idea of those dratted shrunken airliners, I'm kinda' excited about flying a new aircraft. It doesn't look so much like a private jet that should only seat 10-15 pax. I look forward to flying on it. The America West Express CR7 I saw parked at one of the US gates at STL also looks more substantial than typical RJs. The Embraer 135/145 series planes really look dinky by comparison.

They should look dinky in comparison, they seat 1/2 the pax in the case of the 135.

So what's the rotation Tuesday and Wednesday for 956LR?

Anyone in the US/HP/ASH family care to advise?

Thanks...

956LR was painted in Cactus colors for awhile, one of the newest CR9s in the fleet. I just took an HPx LAS-SAN flight, and the flight attendents were using US Airways Express to describe the flight (while mentioning HP). By the way, great crew on the flight, one of the more enjoyable ones I've had in awhile.

Do the newer Mesa CR9s come with a plug insert where the RH-side rear cabin service door is located or has Mesa just abandoned the extra door option and has "full fuselage" like AC Jazz CR9s? I cannot see the contours of a door in the picture in the thread-starter post...

Its hit or miss... most of the original Freedom Jets (902-908) have it, although the newest one with that door IIRC is 925FJ, I dont think 926-956 have it.

We get 5 CR9's from ILM-CLT. They pulled all our 733's for the winter. Word isa aklot of them are going back to creditors. We're to get A319/320's in spring. ILM needs the baggage hold for all of the golf bags. Our loads are too heavy for these during spring/summer. even though i hope they stay for a few oh the flights.

US did get rid of about 60 737's, and that is probably what you are talking about. All of them have already been taken out of service and found a new home... er, parking spot.

ILM is a big business traveler and golf city for usair. They have 70 percent of the market here. 8 flights to CLT, 3 PHL, 3 LGA. and 1 DCA.
