DL To Add More MSY-MCO Service

Mon Jan 23, 2006 8:58 am

Hot off the presses for those who care.

New flights effective 3/2/06 using ERJ-145 aircraft.

MCO-MSY DL6227 1130a - 1224p
MSY-MCO DL6227 1255p - 350p

Interesting to see that this is the same flt number for both segments of the trip.

Good news to see more service even if it's only an ERJ.. I wonder why it's the same flight number both ways?

Same flight number is pretty common on Delta. CMH-BDL is same both ways, as is BOS, LGA, and other pairs. Glad we are getting some more flying back finally!

That's the standard procedure on most Delta Connection flights that return to their origin airport within the same day. With all the RJ flying and constantly more codeshares on Skyteam and other airlines, DL was slowly but steady running out of flight numbers, so they started using this method.

On the topic:
Nice to see DL continue their MSY build-up. It might only be a small step, but these small steps come at regular intervals, so that DL can't do much wrong.

What's the current total on MSY-MCO, for both DL and WN?

Makes sense given that it is a quick turn, same day return. United does it with their Express props in CA

SLC-MSY starts in Feb. with a roundtrip flight on a ASA CR7.

Didn't this route used to be on an MD-90? I guess the demand is not back yet.

Indeed, used to be an MD-90 prior to Katrina, and even was twice daily on 757/762/72S's over the years.
