Canadian Political Party Aircraft

Tue Jan 24, 2006 4:17 am

Does anyone know if there are any good pictures in the database of the aircraft used in the 2006 Canadian Federal election?

I'm looking for the Conservative party, Liberals and NDP.

I believe that the Conservative and NDP had AC Jetz A320's and the Liberals had a B727-200 From Starjet.

There was some controversy at the start of the campaign because the Liberals were using such an unenviromentally friendly aircraft compared to the others.

Hope that helps

A quick search didn't turn up any photos of the NDP's airplane.
You know the gear is up and locked when it takes full throttle to taxi to the terminal.

Why do you think the Liberals would choose a Starjets 727 when the other parties are using AC? Do you think Starjets is a Liberal campaign supporter? Or are they simply trying to save money by using a Starjets 727?

The owner of Starjets is a huge Liberal contributor, hence the use of his planes. It was ironic too that the Liberals, who signed Canada onto the Kyoto Protocol to reduce greenhouse gasses, are using the biggest fuel hog for a campaign plane. They took a bit of a roasting for that.
