Ticket Distribution: The Strangest Places

Wed Jan 25, 2006 1:29 am

We all know that there are numerous places where tickets are distributed (where seats are sold) in aviation, from the 'net and travel agencies to at the airport and in the airline's office. But what's the strangest, by which I mean the least expected, place you've seen airline tickets sold? For me, it's probably in a petrol station (DN tickets in Chennai).

For me, in Germany, the far strangest ticketselling point were some discount-supermarkets. But they've sold LCCtickets, so same w/ same  Wink

Wow! Buy a ticket to Delhi while you fill up? Awesome!!  smile

What's next....ticket vending machines in the washroom....may be a good idea to place these machines at railway stations in India....to catch the higher end class passengers as they struggle thru' the crowd on the platforms...just the right frame of mind to catch them and make them think of flying back from wherever they're going.....  Big grin

If Australia Post gets its way, they might be able to sell JQ tickets at the Post ... stupid idea given their whole business case rests on them being able to circumvent any travel agent licensing regulations. I hope it doesn't happen.

LOL. I was going to the bus station and just glanced and saw it. Was quite surprised but I thought it was good.

Obviously a number of airlines offer gift vouchers via travel agencies, their office, or their website. Never heard of it in a shop before.

When they still had the interisland flight coupons, you for a while you could buy Hawaiian coupons at Bank of Hawaii ATM's.

Here in Japan, you can pay your tickets (at least ANA) at the multifunction machine at the nearsest convenient store.

So if you don't want to use a credid card for your online reservation, you can pay by cash at the machine.
AY and ANA rock!

Hmm. No one has come up with the idea of a ticket machine in a bar? Nothing gets a lady in bed better than a first class ticket to Paris. Big grin
