"Air Gumbo" MSY-hub Paper Airline Still Advertisin

Fri Jan 27, 2006 7:25 am

While doing a little research on a paper airline called "Air Gumbo" that was proposing air service a couple of years back with MSY as a hub, in response to a question posed yesterday on a different MSY paper airline thread called Trans-Caribbean Airlines (which, by the way, I can't find that thread now), I came across this gem of a website for Air Gumbo.....

http://www.airgumbo.com

.....enjoy, and feel free to leave any comments.

I loves me some gumbo. And some crawfish.

It would be nice if this ever got off the ground (btw, is this for real?). As a former resident of New Orleans, I must say that I really miss the warm Southern culture.

Michael Boyd mentioned this in his hot flash a couple of weeks ago. His best line:

"It's the first time an airline has tried to use acid reflux as a competitive advantage."

But then, the proof of the Etouffee is in the eating...

For a paper airline, their site looks really pretty decent and actually rather professional, unlike the Trans Caribbean one. I would not be suprised to see them in a few years, except dont use the CRJ's.

Crayola anyone?!?! Looks like a pre-school assignment. Come to think of it, I would have loved an assignment like this....

Here's another gem (from their FAQ's):

Q - Will Air Gumbo serve its gumbo meal on all flights?
A - All tickets purchased on Air Gumbo for travel come with a gumbo meal. On flights that are less than one hour in duration, Air Gumbo will not have onboard meal service. Air Gumbo will provide the Gumbo Lunchbox, our take-out service on short flights, to those passengers who claim their meal. Passengers may be required to waive liability on the take-out service.

Man, I wish I had this kind of creativity!

Just curious if anyone has tried to call Mr. Ralston Champagnie, CEO and founder. They list his phone number on the news page. They also mention the monies that went to TCA, and state that Gumbo expects "similar or better" treatment from the state.

Course, that was before:
1) the state board determined TCA to be a fraud
2) the state suffered the worst national disaster in the Western hemisphere's history
