The 767 is owned by Microsoft/Bill Gates hence the "MS" in the registration.

Bill Gates does not own that plane, that is nothing more than an urban legend. And if he did, he wouldn't register it with a 'MS.'

He owns a GLEX and a Falcon 900.

I should also clarify, the 767 is owned by an oil company, but I don't know which one. It flys alot between the US (Alaska) and the Mid East.

That plane is parked at Akron/Canton alot. I asked around and was amazed at who owned it. I think Ernest and the president are the only people who fly into Akron/Canton using 747s

I can't see the tail number but I have seen a similar painted 767 at IAH as well as their other aircraft a 752 and 772.....if this is the same folks I am thinking of they could be actually from Saudi!

Saudi Aramco.

They have many large subsidiary companies in Houston. One of them is Aramco Associated Co, their aviation wing.

That is not their aircraft....they have a hanger at IAH and used to have a DC86....in the last 18 months replaced it with a B762, that is not a 200 in the pic nor is it their colors nor tail number, I know the plane you speak of!

I don't see any overwing exits on the 767. Is it possible that with a reduced # of seats onboard, they're not required? Was the airplane originally built with only fwd & aft exit doors?
Not as easy as originally perceived

Correct, he sold it last year and replaced it with a 747-400.

It was specifically the private jet of Saudi Prince Waleed bin Talaal who is a huge construction tycoon and the owner of Kingdom Holdings.

I saw his 767 in Beirut all the time. He comes to Lebanon so often because he is half Lebanese and is building so many projects in the country.

If I recall correctly, the DC-8-72 was put on sale for quite a long while as they couldn't find a buyer for it.

Since they couldn't find a buyer, it was scrapped:

The a/c is based at LAS alongside a BBJ. They both belong to Las Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson. The 763 departed earlier this week routing LAS-Fairbanks-CLK

Right-O. However, Paul Allen, co-founder and owner of the Portland Blazers and Seattle Seahawks owns a 757. I've seen him and his plane a few times while I worked at PDX. He chose the hot rod.  Big grin

i hear ya...here in SBN we hangar a G3, N302ST. it's registered owner is an LLC organization out of florida, but it is strictly used for transporting a preacher.  grumpy

seems a bit ridiculous huh? up until about a month ago, they would only fly once a week, if that. the a/c is hangared in SBN, would fly to MDW every sunday to pick him up, fly down to alabama or georgia so he could preach, and follow the path back home.

how many times must you pass the collection plate around to make the payments on a plane that size! their fuel bill is not cheap, believe me!

i suppose i'm one of a few people that understands the use of business jets, but the need for such extravagance for somebody who you picture as being so humble sort of blurs the line a bit. hell, the LeSEA corporation flies a freakin merlin!

I'm pretty sure the first time I saw the "Bill Gates" photo above it had an enormous number of views due to the description of it belonging to Microsoft/Gates.... Was the description changed or am I seeing things?

Originally built for Gulf Air, this aircraft spent just three years in airline service before being sold into Private Jet Land. (The joys of planespotters.net... although I could have sworn it used to be planemad.net.)

The aircraft was built with the three-door, one-overwing layout so beloved of North American operators. As a private jet it not only has a smaller seat count to evacuate, it's also no longer bound by the same regulations regarding exits as a commercially-operated aircraft.

The lack of painted borders around the L2 door and left overwing exit strongly suggests that these exits have been deactivated (physically and operationally taken out of use), although it could just be a quirk of the paintjob.

Bottom line: the aircraft was built with a full set of exit doors but, due to various VIP jet-specific factors, only the L1 and L3 doors (on the left-hand side at least) are currently in use.

Footnote: Photos on the anet database of the aircraft in Kingdom Holdings livery show borders around doors number 1 and 3, and around the overwing exits. It's probable that the overwings were deactivated when the aircraft was bought by Interface Operations, although the paintjob quirk theory may be lent more weight.

There was an article just the other day in the Las Vegas Review-Journal about the B767. It is being used to shuttle Chinese High Rollers to LAS
for the Chinese New Year. Apparently they spend millions of dollars a hand at the baccarat?? table so the owner of the Venetian flies them over in his own personal B767 and gives them the royal treatment so they will spend their
$$$$$$$ at his casinos..

Maybe this is truly what they mean by "Holy Rollers". Lower your flaps, and lets fly off to somewhere......

I feel for those who have contributed to Mr. Angely's fund raising efforts only to find out that they are funding the operational cost of a 747 (likely luxuriously appointed too).

That just sucks!
