VS's Old A343's

Sun Jan 29, 2006 6:02 am

What will happen to: G-VSUN, G-VAEL, G-VBUS and G-VFLY? I know these aircraft are not getting the suite re-fit, are they going to be retired when the A346's have finished being delivered?

I know Airbus Asset Management is already marketing two ex VS A343s for availability in 2007.

I would like to see the aircraft go to one of the other Virgin's, probably wont happen though  Smile

Virgin Blue/Pacific - Maybe start flights to Asia/N. America from Australia
Virgin Express - Maybe start flights from BRU to N. America/Asia/Middle East/Africa
Virgin America - Maybe start flights to Oceana/Asia
Virgin Nigeria - Give expansion with new aircraft

I doubt Virgin Express will ever get anything more than 737's/A32X's though  Sad

How old are the VS A340s?

TP is using their A340s to a planned 2015 retirement..and they have had them for years!

G-VBUS and G-VAEL are among the oldest A340's around, I think one was used by Airbus for flight testing, not sure, but I think it was G-VBUS. So they must be around 13 years old by now. But I thought VBUS was already moved to Virgin Nigeria?

G-VAEL (Maiden Tolouse) and G-VBUS (Lady in Red) are 12 years old, and G-VFLY (Dragon Lady) and G-VSUN (Rainbow Lady) are 10. G-VBUS was transferred to Virgin Nigeria, but it occasionaly serves non-Nigeria routes. G-VSKY (China Girl) has already been unloaded, and they say they plan to sell the others or transfer them to Virgin Nigeria. I flew G-VAEL recently, and I broke 2 armwrests, a tray table, and a PTV remote.

I hate to do this, but I remember a lot of native English speakers giving a non-native English speaker a somewhat trivial lesson in English grammar...

Incorrect. A346s/Virgins - plural, not possessive, therefore NO apostrophe!

Correct. A343s, plural.

VS's correct - the A343s which belong to VS therefore possessive.
343's incorrect - plural not possessive.

Sorry, I've just spent an afternoon in the centre of London bemused at all the sale's, DVD's on sale and I love Lynne Truscott.

First I tried to pry the remote out of one of the armwrests (after the FA failed), but cracked both the armwrest and the remote. Then I leaned my huge hulking self (100 pounds  Yeah sure) on the other armwrest, and it cracked off the hinge. Then, to add insult to injury against the poor Maiden Tolouse, I lost my balance and hit a tray table, ripping it off the seat! Smile About every twenty minutes throughout the flight, a crack could be heard...
