SAA Fares And UA Codeshare Fares

Mon Jan 30, 2006 12:28 pm

I was looking to book a business assocaite from JNB to IAD in June. I looked on the SAA website, and if I had a South African credit card I could get the ticket for about US$1,600.00. I called UA and asked them to price the exact same flight and have the ticket issued through UA. The price they came up with was over US$ 5,000.00. UA could not understand the huge difference. Can anyone explain the huge difference?

Tony,

I had the same experience with CO, if you book on their website a ticket AMS-EWR it first quotes you USD 7k but if you then change your billing address to the Netherlands, it comes out at just under EUR 2k.

Its crazy!

Thanks and brgds,

I wish there was still a flying boat service on the African Lakes!

QM001 I see what you mean. My concern is that they require a South African credit card and the pax has to have the credit card upon check in. So I strike out on both counts!
