Aren't the 737-7M2s they're receiving actually quick change aircraft, or convertible freighters? I read somewhere they were going to get -7M2QCs, but I couldn't find anything on this in the Boeing Press Release.

Wow, 777s in TAAG colors, can't wait to see that. However they should better get them a bit earlier to take the Angola Soccer World Cup Team to Germany and show off with their new baby.

Which 777 is first to go? I have D2-TFA as line 581 but no cn allocated, and cn's for the other two but no line numbers!?

Why TFA then TED, TEE? Strange allocation? Would have expected TFA/B/C.

line 581 is definitely the first aircraft for TAAG, as all earlier frames are accounted for by other airlines not willing to give them up. Boeing will have some catching up to do of their backlog as they are only around line 550 now.

I'm getting a bit confused with your info, RobK.

TAAG is only getting two 777s. Also I thought mentioned the C/Ns in your previous post. As for registrations, looking at their fleet, it seems that when they get a new type, they change the second letter eg TEA for 747. Therefore a 777 would most likely be TFA.

Boeing is trying to catch up with deliveries but have not set a timetable for when they will be caught up. They are also increasing the production rate of the 777 at the same time.

Lars, D2-TED/E are both brand new allocations from Boeing, received in the past few days from Boeing themselves. Are these in addition to D2-TFA, or is D2-TFA now NTU and actually D2-TED (581) ?

You're the 777 man, you tell me!

WC is in June. First aircraft is expected to arrive only in July. In any case, I don't think a 772 is more impressive than a 743, which is what they have today. The 747 is still the Queen of the skies.

Well, it´s a lot younger and it would be the first TAAG 777 ever, so I do think it will be an interesting plane to spot.

Is there any problem with ETOPS for the 777 crossing the South Atlantic on the LAD-GIG route? I´ve heard so, when RG operated GRU-South Africa for a few weeks in 2004, but I think such aircraft wouldn´t have those problems...

Hi Rob!

So Boeing is saying the registrations will be D2-TED/TEE ? I'm not sure there ever was an aircraft was allocated as D2-TFA but it made sense that the first aircraft of a new type for TAAG would start a new series eg TFA. I guess they stick with TEx for widebody aircraft. Not all that many aircraft on the Angolan register to begin with, less than 100 in the JP and probobaly not too many more smaller aircraft.

So the C/Ns are correct for TAAG's 777s ?

I've just spoken with my Boeing contact and he's confirmed that D2-TFA has never been allocated to his knowledge, so where that came from, I don't know. I assume it was merely a guess?

Therefore, D2-TED/E are as previously quoted, cn wise, and presume D2-TED will be line 581.

Hi Rob!

Thanks for the clarification! Yes, as stated above several times, D2-TFA was a qualified guess.

Looking forward very much to seeing a TAAG 777 in July. I'll probably go to PAE to see it in person.
