Couple Of Questions About AMS

Tue Jan 31, 2006 8:44 pm

I'm going to be flying into AMS on Weds morning and I am wondering if you all can help me with a couple of questions.

1. I know that AMS has showers that passengers can use. However, when I checked the website I couldn't find much info. Where are they located and how much do they cost to use?

2. I'm arriving on United, I assume that it will arrive at F or G pier based on my previous trips to AMS on other airlines...does anyone know, F or G?

3. I'll be leaving AMS on SAS, I assume this leaves from B?

4. The infamous Channel 9, not always on correct?...I know that won't be much to hear over the North Atlantic...but it may be on since I'm flying the T7 right?

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

1. Correct. They are in the Mercure hotel in Lounge 3, on the third floor (airside). It's open 24/7 and the cost is EUR12,50 including towels and shampoo.

2. Not sure about that.. according to this spotter it's G. It's going to be a long walk!

3. SAS to CPH is from pier B, however to Norway I'm not sure. Can flights to OSL use the Schengen zone?

4. Channel 9 should be on all planes with audio IFE.

Have a great flight!

United arrives in the G Pier. KLM has the D & F Pier while NW has the E Pier.

-United uses the G-pier, usually G3,4 or 5.
-SK flights leave from B, wich means you'll have a long walk to your departure gate, the longest you can have at AMS, as G and B are the 2 most 'outside' piers, (excluding the LCC H-pier) It's about a 20-minute walk at normal pace, not including possible waiting time at immigration, customs and security wich you'll pass when moving into the 'schengen' area.
shower facilities are at the Mercure airside hotel on level 2 of lounge 3, wich is the lounge you'll firest get to when leaving the G-pier. Or if you have access there might be a Star Alliance lounge with showers (SQ??)

Hope that helps..

Norway is one of the Schengen countries, they are not in the EU, which is confusing for a lot of people.

Thanks, SK601. I should be ashamed of myself, getting a degree in International and European Law as I'm doing!  ouch

Quoting IADBGO (Thread starter):
I know that AMS has showers that passengers can use.

Yes, there are showers at the Mercure hotel for the indicated cost.
But you can also take a shower free of charge in the restrooms located opposite Crown Lounge 42. Take your own towel and soap of course.
I wish that all skies were orange and blue!!

Thank you all for the feedback. I certainly won't be hauling a towel and soap with me...so I'll just have to pay up. Thanks again all.
