ZRH - A.NET Summer Meet 2006

Thu Feb 02, 2006 7:10 am

Hi everyone!

This is the starter thread for the ZRH - SUMMER Meet 2006!!!!

The planned date will be: July 29th, 2006. (AFTER THE FOOTBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!)

This time, I would like to offer you guys the following:

(Rough plan):

Meet from 9.30am on till 10.30am, in front of the "Visitors Terrace" at Check-in 2.

Visit of the "Terraces B, + E" and a special bus tour to the touch down zone of RWY 14 and to the runway crossings of the RWY's 16/34 - 10/28.

>>After that, we have a lunch brake at "Terrace B", before we go at 3.30pm to check-in for the booked AIRLINERS.NET flight over the "Swiss Alps" with an SWISS AVRO RJ100.(Flight time will be one hour)<<
After the ALPS sightseeing flight, we can finish the day at the amazing RWY 34 restaurant.

Prices will be for the whole package (Terraces, bus tour and flight):

Seats A = CHF 160,-- (€103,-) 20 Seats
Seats B = CHF 150,-- (€ 97,--) 20 Seats
Seats D = CHF 140,-- (€ 90,--) 19 Seats
Seats E = CHF 150,-- (€ 97,--) 19 Seats
Seats F = CHF 160,-- (€103,--) 19 Seats (TOTAL 97 seats available)

ATTENTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please note, that this is only an INFORMATION thread!!!!

DON'T BOOK ANY FLIGTH INTO ZURICH YET!!!! The plan can only materialize, if at least 95 people sign up for sure!!!!!!! (Even guests of A.Netters are welcome!!)

Even the flight time could be changed, due of slots restrictions in ZRH.

>>>More information will be given, once we know, how many people would be interested in this proposal.<<<

Please add to the list below, your user name and your choosen seat for the ALPS round trip with the LX AVRO RJ100.

Take into consideration, that here is a lot of money involved! Therefore, you should be really sure, if you would like to attend this event and if you are able to afford it. (You got almost six full month to save a bit money for that event!   )

If you have questions, contact me, or David (V1VrV2)

Would be lovely to get a lot of you to ZRH on July 29th!!!

Regards,
Patrick

Unfortunately it will be one of the modern no frills flights... But I think for one hour, you will survive without a beer, and rather enjoy the breathtaking view of the SWISS ALPS!!!

Not sure about the date yet, will have to check. Also bit short on cash (thru-out the year), so I wouldn't join the flight then. Some proper spotting is 'do-able' tho  Wink.

Since we are a really big group which will have to fill the plane (97 pax),
the tour for the terraces an bus will be already two buses. I don't wanna let grow the amount of people to more than that.

Therefore and to handle the whole thing more easy, I'll offer only the whole package. Please understand that.
The prices are calculated so tide to make it as cheap as possible for you guys, I can't accept any changes. The whole project is really big this time. I hope that's somehow understandable.

Wow! Patrick! It looks like everytime you plan the new ZRH meet, it has to be bigger and more spectacular than the previous time! (This is a rumor only, but Patrick has told me in private that in 2007 for the summer meet he's going to have Concorde flying again, for a 20-hour round-the-world flight out of ZRH, with free booze and one FA per passenger)

Well Patrick, what can I say, first of course I'm going to book myself onto your flight:

Glidepath73 (1B)
V1VrV2 Seat (1A)
IberiaA319 (probably)
Sabena332
DTManiac
FelixZRH (2A)
Birdwatching (3A)

Patrick, if you have trouble to fill the seats, you should kindly ask Sven or Sebastian at Airevents.de to list your flight on their site for a couple of weeks. If you still have trouble, book a 3-line classified ad in any ZRH newspaper, and you'll have about 500 rich Swiss people willing to pay ANY price.

One last thought: Who else agrees that the RJ is the perfect plane for a sightseeing flight, with the wings above the windows and not below?

Here's an RJ seat map for you:

All the things you probably hate about travelling are warm reminders that I'm home

I'm also very interessted to this project.

Is there a possibility to made a touch-and-go at Sion (SIR) for example? And a flight arround the Matterhorn?

If the flight would be bookable, I would be on seat 4A.

Thank you Patrick for the organisation!

Hi guys,

I think I have to add myself to the list as well. How many miles & more being credited? (Yes, yes, I know there are no miles to be earned on a private charter like this...).

Just one thing: The seat numbers look a bit misleading to me... Isn't Swiss Int'l. standard row number followed by seat letter, i.e.
1A for left hand side window in row 1,
1E for right hand side window in row 1,
2A for left hand side window in row 2, etc?

If so, Patrick & Felix we should adopt that nomenclature as well to avoid future confusion?

Hi Sören, sorry to disagree with you on that, I'd prefer the view from an A319 or EMB-145 over the ARJ (unfortunantely the 145s are LX history by the summer of 2006).

I thought exactly the same way as you about the BAe 146 / Avro RJ before my first flight in one of them. Actually, that was back on 14 Sep 1989 aboard US 2920 from LAX to Las Vegas, and it was former PSA BAe 146-200A N189US cn E.2048 that flew for US Air for a short time after the merger. Coincidence wants it that it was sold soon thereafter - IIRC the former PSA network that became the short-lived West Coast network of US Air was slashed a mere 2 weeks after I made that flight - and eventually "my" BAe 146 became G-FLTA with Flightline, and for some time also... Swissair Express  Wink

Well, enough nostalgia, but I personally found the views from that BAe 146 a bit disappointing and much more obstructed than what I had been expecting. The wing is sloping down slightly, and the engines take up a lot of the view when you try looking into the distance, which is also a factor for some of the front rows before the actual wingspar. Of course you can look straight down from every window seat, but then the windows are relatively thick...

Cheers, Lukas

Window seats are "A" and "F". The number after the letter is then the row. So "E1" is the middle seat located in row 1. If you want a window you have to book "A" or "F" plus the row you wish, but make sure it has not been already taken by someone else.

It's nice to see that only after one day there are already 9 people interested in!!!!  Smile

Funny how Patrick started with the letters first, then I changed it back to number-letter, then Felix changed it around again...

I don't know if it's just me, but I'm getting really confused with the letter-number arrangement!

So I'll change it around one last time  Smile

Sorry for this mixing. I didn't see your renumbering, I just saw that rpaillard got lost.
This numbering is the best, and thank you that you just did it.
I just hope, that we will not loose any other reservations in order not have  crowded .

You have to pick a seat number first and then add your name to the list

One question ... do all participants have to go on this Avro flight?

Just a question to the seating letters: Why is there no aisle "C"? The window seats are therefor A and F, instead of E. (5 seats across).

Something to be aware of, for window seat bookings.

Therefore and to handle the whole thing more easy, I'll offer only the whole package. Please understand that.
The prices are calculated so tide to make it as cheap as possible for you guys, I can't accept any changes. The whole project is really big this time. I hope that's somehow understandable.

Any other questions?

Look at the seat map above. The arrangement is AB_DEF. Patrick has made the prices in a way that A and F, the windows, cost 160(103) each, then B and E, both one seat away from the window, cost 150(97), and finally, seat D, farthest from the window, cost 140(90).

Patrick has used these designations in his thread starter, and the diagram shows the same letters. So I don't understand your question, it should be clear, right?

One more thing: Patrick, maybe you made the difference between seat prices too little. Me, for example, I booked the cheapest available seat on the Iran Air flight last summer, and it was 25% of the price for the most expensive seats. But with the prices you're proposing here, everybody will book the window seats (well until they're gone of course) because I only have to pay very little more for them.

That's maybe true, but I didn't want to do it really expensive for you guys there.
I was even thinking of free seat choosing ala U2 or 4U. But well, on this way, there is at least a way to say: First signs, first goes for the window seats... For not such a big difference between the cheapest and the most expensive seats. (CHF 20,--) A fair price, for a fair nice group!!!

Thanks for answering my question about seat numbering/lettering V1VrV2, if F is the window seat then I shall opt for that instead of E.

Have updated the list with my amendment, also changed back a seat as its free, so that I get a bit more leg room, I know its not going to be a long flight, but I am fairly tall Smile
