DELTA's 4Q And 2005 Earnings

Thu Feb 02, 2006 1:50 pm

Hey guys, is it just me? But I seem to have missed Delta's 4Q and 2005 earnings. If it has been released... can somebody tell me the results? Otherwise, any info on when they will announce it would be great. Also, did I miss US Airways' as well?

cheers

They're being released early February (I think around the 15th, but not positive).

predictions anybody?

-Massive loss
-Mainly due to fuel costs, paper losses related to reorg process, and dropping planes
-Improved operational performance

Analyst estimates range for Delta's Q4 loss to be between $306-$508 million.
Offcourse these are excluding any special items as part of the Ch11 process.

No date has been set yet for the release of the data.

Basically it will be a terrible quarter. One thing interesting to watch is the continued drop in Delta's cash position. United on the other hand while posting large losses was able to grow the the very important cash position during much of its BK process.

Yes and UAL was in bankruptcy for three years. Delta has been in for four months. Give them time and maybe you'll see their 'very important cash position' grow 'during much of its BK process'

Will be interesting to watch as even according to DL CFO's own court testimony under best circumstances (receive wage agreements, crude at <$60, improved revenue enviroment) the carrier would not be cash positive until late 2006.
A potential cash crisis is possible considering there are significant variables and events that could make it impossible to achieve the "best circumstances".
