Transfers At New Madrid T4

Fri Feb 03, 2006 7:58 am

Does anyone know if you have to clear Immigration at the new Madrid Terminal 4 if you have a *same* Terminal connecting flight?

e.g. Mrs Standby inbound on Avianca CLO-MAD, outbound on Iberia MAD-ZRH?

Maybe it's a bit early to ask this, as it's not actually operating yet!

If no one knows then can I take the opportunity to wish everybody involved all the best for a smooth move to T4 Madrid - I hope it's a great success!

Good luck! (I think you'll need it!)

If you were flying Iberia from say JFK to MAD and then onto ZRH you would probably check your bags in at JFK to be transfered directly to your ZRH flight and you would not have to clear immagration, just follow the signs for transfers and go to your flight to ZRHs' gate.

Since you are flying two different airlines you will probably have to collect your luggage first and then go check in with Iberia, which means you will have to clear immagration before collecting your luggage.

If you are only with carry on luggage then you will probably not have to clear immagration just go to your flight to ZRHs' gate.

This is all just a guess since I have never connected in MAD just flown into it and out of it.

Quoting Standby87 (Thread starter):

No if you're connecting from a non-schengen flight to another non-schengen flights.

Arriving from a non-schengen country :

1) Plane goes to a jetway. After leaving the plane you are at level 2 of the satellite building. If connecting to a non-schengen flight you just go downstairs to level 1.

2) Plane goes to a remote stand. You are bused from the plane to level 0 of the satellite building. If connecting to a non-schengen flight you just go upstairs to level 1.

Simple as that: plane to jetway, downstairs. Bused from plane, upstairs.

Thanks folks - that's much appreciated!

If the thread's not been frozen, I'll let you know how Mrs S gets on and what she thinks of the new MAD Terminal!

Buen fin de semana
Cheers!
