Will that mean huge boxes under the seats further reducing legroom?

Great news and not before time.

BA will have one of the best Y Class products in the world - up there with EK, SQ, MS, etc.

Proof that you cant keep everyone happy all of the time. I fall into 'give me a good book' category, but then, I'm an old git.

Do you fly Concorde?!  Wow! Ah. Slow day today. I thought you meant 10-12 hours total. Durr.

I flew RTW earlier this year, and watched about two movies on the entire trip. I prefer to watch the wonders of the world downstairs, or chat to fellow passengers in the aft galley. Flights are also excellent time to catch up on books. Much better than watching some edited hollywood repeat on a 3'' screen.

a Koreanwar vet who returns to Korea every year
A retired french polynesian govenment minister on the value and damagae of french influence in their region
An American pro gun woman on the virtue of shooting animals for sport

Fine for you, but not everyone is an extrovert. Nor does everybody get a window, and some people like a PTV. If you read as fast as I do, you use up most of your luggage allowance on books! And as I spend my holidays reading a lot of the time, the IFE makes a nice break. Particularly as AVOD is more than just films.

For me, AVOD is a major selling point when choosing an airline. and so it will remain

When I flew EK (MAA-DXB) in December, I absolutely loved its IFE - thousands of music options, plenty of films/comedies/news/etc. I was spoilt for choice - literally. The 'best of' albums even included more obscure but good artists, like Johnny Cash. Amazingly good system. I had intended to read, but I just didn't get around to it. Add the fact that I virtually had personal attention ('sir, would you like a nice cup of tea?' randomly. 'Oh, yes please. Thank you very much.' He brought it with delicious biscuits, too), despite an almost-full economy cabin, and it was a very nice experience - not least because MAA-DXB-LHR, with 12 hours notice, only cost £250 all-in.

I'm married to a literary trash can, and yes, an extra suitcase for books has happened. The secret is to read and leave behind, leaving space for shopping - believe me, shes thought about it!

The boxes under the seats will remain the same.
The difference is all head end equipment on the Rockwell Collins system.

IMHO I would much rather see a naked body than a dead one. You couldn't edit out the nudity in a film like "Mrs. Henderson Presents" without destroying it - and it was an excellent film which I enjoyed very much on my way to IAD this week.

Excellent news! I'm looking forward to the new BA product being announced!

What's the new CW seat meant to be announced?

btw - don't BA already have a new programme onboard?

i refuse to travel with so much reading material that would necessitate another suitcase. and if i were tp buy a book, it would mean that i want to keep it for my collection. thus avod is important for me.

chris, imo ba has always had one of the better y service

agree...thats why if they decide to show a movie, they shouldn't edit it out..otherwise don't bother showing it.. no

personally, I prefer my laptop and my own flicks.. yes
