JetBlue A320 Configurations

Sun Feb 05, 2006 6:03 am

So I finally had my first jetBlue experience this past week – I have to say, I was incredibly impressed.

However, I'm still curious about one thing – what's the deal with the different seat pitch sections onboard the aircraft. It doesn't quite make sense to me, as it's not treated as a special section, à la United Economy Plus. Is it just an advantage for those in the know?

Thoughts/comments appreciated.

On their website you can reserve seats and it lets you know what the seat pitch of each section is. So everyone can know.

They took a row out in the back which gives more room to the seats behind row 11. I don't know why they did it but I'm sure they had a reason.

There is varied seat pitch because they couldn't move the emergency exit rows because of the location of the doors, so they could only increase the pitch of the seats behind the emergency exits.

How AA was able to get around this problem on their fleet during MRTC, I'm not sure...

They used to have 27 rows on the plane and they received many complaints on how the last row was not comfortable at all so Neeleman took it out and since they can't move the emergency exit seats around, they increased pitch every where. There is 32" in 1-10 then 11-12 has 34+" (Emergency Exits) and then 13-26 has 34". They way they like to sell it is sit in the back and avoid the deplaning mess and have the front for quick deplaning.

Quite simply, they removed 2 rows from each aircraft, one forward of the overwing exits, and one behind  Smile
