Earn Air Canada Aeroplan On Americawest?

Sun Feb 05, 2006 9:27 am

Looking around on Air Canada's Aeroplan site for earning mileage, is one eligible to earn miles when flying Americawest? What is the status of the merger between US and HP?

They should now both be a part of STAR Alliance which in fact makes any AC flight eligible for credit.

Until full integration, most flight carry both a US & HP flight number. To avoid any problems, just book the flight with the US designator code.

That's news to me. Last month I took a United flight that was a codeshare with US Airways, and later found I was not able to credit it in my US dividend miles account. Any idea what happened with that?

I just went to the STAR Alliance website and they don't even mention or aknowledge US, HP or the merger. Very strange!

You got me pretty scared there. I thought US left Star, but it is still listed on the website as a Star memeber. What it doesn't have though, is info on the merger. All the info about the airline is old information.
There is something special about planes....

I see it on US website and you have to dig for it, but not on STAR's. Still weird.

Star's website also hasn't mentioned anything about SAA joining, even though there's already one SAA 436 flying in Star colors... Maybe they should update their website a bit more often..

You do not earn miles on HP marketed flights (either HP metal or HP codeshare). At this time, you will only earn Aeroplan miles on US (East) operated flights.
