American Eagle To Resume JFK-BWI

Mon Feb 06, 2006 11:53 am

American Eagle will resume daily New York City/JFK-Baltimore service on 3 April 2006, obviously to connect to the Europe bank.

AA 4541 BWI 1400-1707 ER3 xSu
AA 4541 BWI 1400-1707 ERD Su

AA 4542 JFK 1610-1721 ER3 Daily

Interesting to note that only a few years ago American Eagle heavily cut back JFK ops, and was down to only four cities - Boston, Montreal, Raleigh, and Washington/National. They have since added/re-started Baltimore, Chicago, Cleveland, Halifax, St. Louis, and Toronto.

Do you think we might see AE fly BNA-JFK for connections? What other routes can we see like this new one? They have to start filling the new terminal somehow.

How many airlines ply these routes? And by "these routes" I mean like Washington D.C to New York City (all airports) and Boston to New York City (all airports) and Boston to Washington D.C (all airports)? Does AE still have the high frequency/wannabe shuttle service between those airports with ERJ's?

AE will continue to expand at JFK. There are lots of rumors about BOS closing and LGA and JFK become one, large, dual base.

Whether those rumors are true or not, one thing must be stated: AMR will have a billion dollar, 37-gate terminal at JFK. Phase 1 has opened. The rest will follow in the next few years. The terminal will have 9 RJ gates.

Clearly, the future of AMR's northeast operation centers around a rather large JFK operation; both AA and Eagle.

Anyone think that AE could compete with B6 at JFK? I mean with flights from BUF ROC SYR back into the JFK market? I have had in the past week about 7 pax come to my counter and ask about tkts to LHR thru NYC and many ask about tkts to places like PAP, SJU, and many places in the islands. ROC has a huge carribian population that love to travel home from ROC. The will go ROC-JFK on B6 and reconnect with AA in JFK. Ya B6 has TV's and cheep fares, but not haveing to terminal change and reclaim and recheckin your luggage is priceless........AA could beat B6

I have to admit, with PVD slated to become an all Eagle station in April, I'm hoping to see a PVD-JFK or LGA flight or two reappear in the next year as well. I can keep on dreaming, can't I...

Nice to see them slowly rebuilding connections at JFK....Most people don't realize it, but AA can get you to most points of the country from JFK.

Step off of LHR-JFK or any other international flight and you have many options with AA at JFK...

I flew PVD JFK on AA to BDA, BGI, SXM, LHR over the years on always filled Saab 340s. There were dozens of connecting possibilities to the Caribbean South and Central America and Europe through that admittedly crummy terminal and during busy periods the operation was a circus. Nonetheless, AA seemed to want out of the business of traffic feed through JFK as many other cities served the same way saw the NY connections evaporate. Hopefully BWI will be the first of a rebuild of sorts.

AE fills the flights with lots and lots of connecting pax to Europe, S America, Cali, and the Carib.

And for the destinations not available from JFK there is a helicopter link coming top LGA and vice versa

Should they worry about competing with Jet Blue more or perhaps competing with Delta more?

I'm sure someone like SHUPirate or someone else in the know could give a good comparison of domestic flights offered from AA and DL from JFK on their regional carriers.
if assumptions could fly, airliners.net would be the world's busiest airport
