Is 70 Minutes Enough Time To Transit NRT?

Tue Feb 07, 2006 11:07 pm

I am considering heading out to Singapore in 2 weeks, and I was wondering if 70 minutes is enough time to transit NRT. I will be on ANA, and will be transiting int'l to int'l. I know it is not enough time to hit the Signet Lounge, but I want to make sure that is enough time to transit. Last time I was in NRT it was my destination, so I didn't have to worry about transit times.

You should be OK. According to ANA's webpage, you need a minimum of 60 minutes for an international -> international transfer at Tokyo/Narita. This assumes that:

1. Both your inbound and outbound international flights are in the same terminal (ANA uses T2 until June 2006, T1 thereafter, code-share flights may vary between T1 and T2).
2. Both flights are on the same ticket/reservation.
3. You have through-checked your baggage to SIN.
4. You do not otherwise have to go through Japanese immigration/customs procedures at NRT (if you were traveling on separate tickets, you might have to do this).

Since you do not have to transfer between terminals you should be ok. Be advised that when you get off the plane don't waste time get to the security desk and get rescreened quickly. 3 or 4 747's hitting the gate at the same time can create some massive lines.

Sounds like I'll be alright then. I'll be carry-on only, so that won't be an issue, and I never dilly-dally around when it comes to getting through security, so I'm good there too...

Thanks for the help guys!  Smile
