HA FAs

Wed Feb 08, 2006 8:24 am

Just flew a couple of HA transpac flts (HNL-SEA, LAS-HNL, HNL-LAX, LAS-HNL, HNL-SMF, LAS-HNL, HNL-LAX, LAX-HNL) in Y and F and noticed a huge difference in the service provided by the LAX vs. HNL-based FAs. I thought all mainland domiciles were closed down a few years ago, but I guess not since the FAs on my HNL-SMF and HNL-LAX flts were LAX-based. I normally go out of my way to fly HA, but the service provided by the LAX-based FAs left a lot to be desired. So I'm wondering which flights are the LAX-based FAs assigned to?

First off I would like to apologise on behalf of my airline if you got substandard service. Our LAX based crews are "battle hardened" and for the most part more senior than the HNL base. Lots of the F/As in LA have 20 yrs or more of seniority and they have probably lost a little of the "aloha spirit" as they live in LA full time.

The one flight pairing they work out of LA is LAX-HNL-SFO(10 hour layover)SFO-HNL(9 hour layover)HNL-LAX.This is what they are flying this month but it may change.

LAX Crews : Flt#01 LAX-HNL
Flt#11&12 SFO-HNL-SFO
Flt#04 HNL-LAX

I have a lot of LAX flights this month, flts # 02 & 03 and my name is ED and I fly the purser position. I can almost guarantee that you will have a good flight with my crews.

I don't recall if I ever flew with a LAX based crew. I used to work for Hawaiian and never called attention to the fact that I was a non-rev, but many would just know. I would always observe to see what kind of service the FA's provided and never noticed anything too bad from all the flight I took. But then again, I am quite jaded to the service expectations pax expect and what is actually feasable and provided.

i've flown with both HNL and LAX based crews many times and i found both their services excellent as to be expected for Hawaiian Airlines. and yes the LAX based crews are averaged very senior. my last flight with them i was talking w/ one of the F/A's and she said she was the jr most FA and she had 21 years w/ HA.

even here at B6...passengers can already tell where the FA's are based by their attitude. i've talked to some of the pax about it and they enjoy flying w/ an LGB based crew. they say we're more happy/energitic (spelled?) than the JFK and FLL crews. but it can also be a bad thing that a passenger can tell cause they expect to have the same excellent service among'st any F/A on any flight.

any case...big aloha to Hawaiian air! hope to non-rev on ya guys with in the next cpl months...havn't seen my family in HNL in about 6 months *LOL*

How do the mainland - OGG flights work? Do the crews originate in OGG, layover there, or fly in from the mainland and back out as a "turn around" (ex. SEA-OGG-PDX)?

Pualani would have the definate answer, but I recall these flights being crewed by HNL FAs. They would deadhead on interisland flights to and from OGG. I would walk around the interisland terminal during my lunch break and see them waiting at the gate with their rollaboards.

HA763 had it right, the crews originate out of HNL but most of the crew actually live on Maui so they dont need to commute to HNL and then deadhead back to OGG for the flight. Kind of a sweet deal for them. Those flights are not popular with the HNL base because its a really long day for not a lot of credit. d
