Pure heaven.. big seats, eye level big windows, plenty of leg room (at least for 5'10" me), and a smooth ride..

But I'm probably biased...

Shuttle America on behalf of Delta.
Somebody runs them for United now.
Mid-Atlantic still has a few for USAirways.

As far as the carriers themselves... they run for US, UA, and DL.

Republic and MidAtlantic fly for USAirways...

MidAtlantic has about 2 months left until all their aircraft will be transferred over to Republic.

Like warm apple pie

Actually I just got off of US1687, operated by an E-170.

The cabin is deceptively large. You'd be amazed by how big a bag you can easily fit into the overheads. The seats are roomy, especially when compared to the small ERJ and CRJs out there. Through in the big windows you have a very airy cabin.

I love the plane. I have been on 2 of them now. 1 was on US. The other was DL. Both of them were great flights. Smooth fun flights.

The EMB-170 is so superior to the CRJ, at least in pax comfort, that it is hardly worth comparing them. And I fly CRJs for a living.....

From the mouth of a Republic CA; "Embraer should call this the 180!" I asked why; "Every time we push, we do a 180 back to the gate!". Apparently, some of the earl 170's had some growing pains. The more recently deliveries however, have had a much better mx record. It's certainly a sharp looking jet, and only wish we'll be getting them soon in the form of the 190!

I have a trip report on the first revenue flight of USAirways N804MD in the trip report forums.

Give my username a search and it should pop up.

GREAT plane!

I like it. It is comfortable especially because of the fewer seats and no middles. However the windows seem a little high up and the plane is awfully noisy inside.

Here is one of the three trip reports I have written about flying on the E170: UA First Class IND-ORD-LAX On EMB170/767 Pics (by RoseFlyer Nov 28 2004 in Trip Reports)

Trip reports are a great resource, so you can just search for EMB170/E170/ERJ170 and you will see a number of them.

I absolutely love the EMB-170! I have been on them twice - once in UA service in First class and once on us on US East (sorry, my way of distinguishing between US and HP ops). Personally, I like the CR9s that Mesa operates for us, but I would absolutely love it if we had some members of the E170-E195 family flying for us on the HP side. I guess that I will have to wait and see.....

I took a pic of an Emb-170 during my flight last year. Here it is:

The E-170 also has a very strong takeoff (since it's the lightest variant of the family). It is very loud outside and fairly ok inside, although takeoff is noisy compared to a CRJ.

To fly on? Absolutely fantastic! Nothing better!

To work on? Pure hell. Terrible bins, terrible teething problems...

Don't even compare it to a 737. It is more like the 32S family if anything.

I have to say I think they are quite good, I am surprised that their sales has not been extended into some other area's liek asia or Middle East, I think for example they will be quite good for Iranian carriers for regional ops and no political problems in acquiring them?

Any chance of US putting F class on the 170? Shuttle America has F and UA even has "3" classes, F, Premium Economy and coach.

I flied on this plane 3 times in the last 2 months (YUL-ORD, YUL-ORD and ORD-YUL).

(One ORD-YUL was on AC 319).

This plane has some problems in the cabin.

First, it cannot maintain proper cabin temperature. For 10 minutes it's too hot; then for 10 minutes it's okay; then for 10 minutes it's too cold; then for 10 minutes it's okay; then for 10 minutes it's too hot. It was like that on all 3 flights I had with this model.

Second, the interior speakers are too loud. During cabin announcements, I had to put my hands on my ears because it was really hurting.

All that being said, I would not hesitate to fly that plane at anytime. Seating is comfortable (I'm 1,82m). Bin volume is also very appropriate.

Overall, it provides a slightly better-than-acceptable 2 hour ride.

I flew Executive Class on AC twice (both from BOS to YYZ). The layout is 3 rows of 1-2. You can see the seats in this picture:

I enjoyed both flights. The cabin feels roomy and the seats are comfortable and with lots of space to put stuff in (power outlets, drinks trays, etc.). I particularly enjoyed the second flight as only 3 out of the 9 seats were occupied and I had 3A, which is both a window/aisle. I love when I get such a seat (the first time I was on the aisle and it was fine too).

Also notice on the picture (actually it's not that clear) that AC has asymmetrically-sized bins in Executive Class to give more of a spacious feeling I suppose (smaller over the A seats, larger ove the other two). However, the bins over the A seats are too small to put anything substantial in them. The ones on the other side are larger but they can get full very quickly.

I don't know what else to say about this. If you have specific questions, please ask!

Yeah, #1 the cages around the fire/smoke detectors hang way too far down and we always bash our heads on them. 2- the prongs or w/e you wanna call them to hold the door in place are just sticking out with no cover and bags get cought on them and knees get smashed into them. Other than that the bin is just too small, you have to be a midget to work in there comfortably and you'd still have to lay down. There's nothing much to be done about that, I know, but it's still a pain. The floor, however, is fantastic.

Not sure on the 170's although it's coming on the -190's I would imagine they would convert the others for commonality. US Airways To Get 25 Embraer 190s (by FCYTravis Feb 10 2006 in Civil Aviation)
