B752 W/winglets @ BFI?

Thu Feb 09, 2006 3:35 pm

I was northbound on I-5 just south of BFI last Friday a 752 took off from 31L heading right for me. I didn't get as good of a look at it as I would have liked given that I was driving (traffic came to a crawl at the north end of the airport and stayed that way until I got out of Everett, what timing...) but I'm almost certain that it was fitted with winglets. Does anyone know if Boeing is doing any testing/fitting at BFI? I'll be keeping an eye out when I'm in Seattle this weekend.

It might have been a CO plane getting fitted.

I think I've seen a few pics of the CO planes at or around BFI in the database just after getting winglets added.

They're not getting them done at BFI afaik.

Probably saw a 737-800. Can't recall seeing any likely wingletted 757's in the movement logs last week.

The first 757-200 (CO A/C# 134) pilot project aircraft had winglets installed and first test flown at Boeing's Everett facility. The final stages of test flying and FAA certification was accomplished at BFI.

The rest of CO's 752 fleet are having winglets installed by TIMCO Aerospace in GSO. The only other airline I can think of that are having winglets installed on there 752's is AA. Maybe they are having them installed at BFI.
Is it broke...? Yeah I'll fix it.

I definetly wouldn't mistake a 738 for a 752. If it wasn't a 752 with winglets, it was a 752 without them. Still, I could swear I saw them...I ment to check some tracking sites when I got to Bellingham later that night, but I forgot. Oh well.

Last I heard, the mod was done on a single 752 for evaluation purposes. Did they decide to retrofit more?

IIRC, the mod on the 738 was for a testing process, the 752's were all getting them.
