The Aerolineas Argentinas product could be an interesting one to analyse because the difference between their Business Class service and the tourist class service really is one extreme to the other.
business class seating arrangement on the wide bodies are always 2-2 o 2-2-2 (The Airbus is all 2-2, the 747 is 2-2 or 2-2-2 depending on where you are in the cabin). All seats are the old fashioned style cradle type seat but are VERY comfortable. In actual fact in my opinion, they are as comfortable as a typical flat bed (say BA
) due to their size and the amount of recline (160).
The tourist class seat has to be one of the smallest in the world with the smallest pitch. You feel very cramped and it can all be a little overwhelming such is the lack of space versus the amount of people on board as nearly all AR
flights, especially to MAD
go full. By the way they are 2-4-2
The food on outbound flights from EZE
is usually a salad for staters and then either a meat or pasta dish seeing as they are the main dishes of Argentina.
Coupled with that is ice cream from large ice cream chain (Freddo) and always served with a very well stocked cheesboard.
Also they always server Argentine wines and beers.
Food in tourist is terrible with ALWAYS the same inbound and outbound choices of Chicken or Pasta, salad and a small cake.
Luggage compartments are standard size although as we know upstairs on the 747 they are a little smaller but you do have the side pockets for storage.
The one problem with AR
is that people seem to get on with large amounts of luggage (tourist and business) and boxes so what bin space is available usually doesnt last long!
Service as I say can be iffy to say the least in tourist class with AR
which in my experience was always the case but in parellel the service in Business has ALWAYS been second to none without exception. One of the most common criticisms you will always hear of AR
is that their service is just not up to scratch in that their FAs server what they need and then disappear for the rest of the flight until the next service - this I am afraid in my experience is 110% true however in the gallies there is always a good supply of snacks to be had.
Overall, there is a great distance between the 2 classes on this airline. Certainly more noticable than LH
although I am sure many readers here have had off days with both - in my opinion, with AR
if you fly business you are in for a treat (Even the red carnation they put on your tray before the food arrives!). If you fly in tourist you will simply pray you arrive sane, able to move your legs again probably starving to death.
Hope this helps guys!
