Can I Book A Oneway Reward Flight? (Conti Onepass)

Sun Feb 12, 2006 6:12 am

Hi!

I was wondering if I can book a oneway flight instead of a round trip, using my miles. I can't seem to find the oneway button on continental.com, but 2 things suggest this must be possible somehow:

1) When booking roundtrip, it shows me each segment's individual mileage required.

2) Program rules state: "Rewards are valid for roundtrip or one-way (as specified) travel between two cities served by the carrier designated, using the most direct route as defined by the reward you redeem."

So, is this possible at all? Only on the phone?

Thanks for any help!

I've tried to book one way reward flights with CO before, they did not seem to offer that option. Then I looked up a couple of other US airlines, none of them seemed to offer a one way reward option Sad

There's also the option of reserving booking a round-trip tickent and just discarding the return.  duck

Not exactly baseball as played at Yankee Stadium, but it is an option.

ONE WAY AND ROUND TRIP are both usually the same mileage on some carriers so you waste 1/2 your miles. a way to cheat you. cant just use 1/2 miles for one way tickets, they usually make you use what would be needed if it was round trip

This is not hard to figure out, if you tried to book a one way reward ticket on line, you are given this message:

"! Reward travel can only be booked online for round trip travel. The results below show round trip results."

That's pretty standard. Upgrades are one way now, but most legacy trip rewards are roundtrip only.

Probably is irrelevant anyway. Standard onepass members are rarely able to get award seats anyway, and if you are able to find an award seat, it'll probably be a double miles "SleazyPass" award. Most standard awards are reserved for elite members. The years I made Plat were great.

I must be the exception as I have never had a problem getting a reward flight and have never been charged double miles. Also have had success in getting reward flights with NW as well.

I've never had trouble getting seats on NW either. After I stopped flying CO so much, I noticed a big difference in award availability. I could check for awards without signing in and get one result, then log in as a Plat elite and see something completely different, usually same flights, only sleazypass awards. I switched to WorldPerks when I switched to NW, and turned my CO miles into Hilton points.
