Singapore Pilot Wings On EBay

Mon Feb 13, 2006 12:55 am

Hi ya'll! I have noticed these wings on eBay forever and was wondering if anybody knows whether or not they are indeed authentic. This seller seems to have a never ending supply of them and they are always cheap to purchase. I am an avid collector of crew wings but am hesitant to purchase these. I would think these would be hard to come by like most authentic crew wings are. If anybody has any knowledge on these wings let me know. Stupidly enough everytime I see them on eBay I spend forever wondering about them! LOL!  Silly

Here is a link to them......

More than likely, they're fakes. A lot of fake items come out of Singapore (and Malaysia and Thailand). I've seen a lot of fake Fred Perry polo shirts on Ebay that have one of those countries listed. I know they're fakes because they are in colors or patterns that have never been used by the company, the piping on the sleeve and collar are wrong, the Fred Perry Crest on the chest doesn't look right, plus the only places that the shirts are officially made in are England and Portugal.

Probably Fakes or some disgruntled Ex Employee decided to dump them off.

In my personal opinion, if they were real they'd be a lot more expensive.

Not to hijack this thread, while I agree the fake marked is thriving in SE Asia. It's just about dead in Singapore. I don't know if you've ever been there (I live there now), but counterfit products aren't really made in Singapore.

I've been working in the airline collectible shows for 25yrs.........I've never seen a set of authentic airline wings go cheap....so, as the old saying goes, "if it seems to good to be true, ............." i'd say don't buy them.

A lot of the stuff I've read online regarding fake Fred Perry polos say that the shirts are made in China, and we all know how two-faced China can be in regards to counterfeit goods.

Ok, so what does that have to do with Singapore?

China claims to be fighting the production of fake goods. They have the big press events where they destory pirated goods. But it's all a big show, as they think they've fooled every one in the West. They make the goods and import them into Singapore and other countries in the region (and even into the US). Companies in Singapore help China's counterfeit goods industry buy continuing to sell these items. So Singapore is a link in the supply chain of fake goods out of China.

You can't buy many counterfeit goods in Singapore anymore. There are a few places you can go for CD's, DVD's, software, watches, etc. but not much. You can get much more in Malaysia, Thailand or Hong Kong.
See what happens when you go for a trip to Johor Bahru and get caught at the Singapore checkpoint on the way back with some fake DVD's........

Are you serious? All those years growing up there, I always thought I was in China. They sure had me fooled.

Have you ever been to Singapore? If not, I suggest you visit here! I've lived here for a number of years and can tell you it's not worth it getting caught with counterfit goods.

If you're trying to make a conspiracy theory, it's not working. Singapore is not part of the "supply chain" you refer to.

In addition, I'd suggest taking a look at an atlas to get your geography straightened out!

It's not a conspiracy if it's true. If there aren't groups in Singapore that trade in fake goods produced in China, then why are the WTO and government trade agencies within its' member countries going to place like Singapore and Thailand in regards to such items.

Last I heard Singapore is still in Asia, as is China, so unless they've moved all of sudden.

I found a set of TWA buttons on Ebay, and they were listed as real, but I had a feeling that they were fake, but I needed them for a flight attendant uniform that I made for a class, so I bought them anyways. And they were definitely fake lol, but they looked real enough from far away, and they went perfectly with the uniform.

So you mean my $29 Rolex from NYC is fake!?!?!? eyepopping
On a more serious note, how do you obtain a complete pilot's uniform? I've searched ebay but haven't really found much.
