Actually Peace Air (from Grande Prairie) flies Pilatus PC-12's (9 seats) into YYC, albeit not to the main terminal, but it's scheduled service nonetheless.

Likewise, Bearskin Airlines flies PC-12's into Winnipeg.

Here at SEA, the smallest i beleive is the Cessna Caravan operated by Harbor Airlines. I think it is kinda cool to see the huge contrast between planes such as the Cessna Caravan and the 777 all using the same airport.

At Boston's Logan (BOS) the smallest planes I've seen are Cape Air's 8-passenger Cessna 402s, with regular service to Provincetown, Hyannis, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. They pull up to the commuter gates at Terminal A, whose regular gates service the Delta shuttle among others. Quite a sight in comparison to a larger jet.

The smallest plane here at COS are Mesa's B1900s. They serve DEN and ABQ. When spotting they're very hard to miss on the ramp since they park right next to gate 2 between the main terminal and the old WestPac concourse.

What is a commercial airplane?
A plane that you have to "pay" to go up in?

Seriously, I could say an Eagle 150. Its about 5 metres long. It still classifies as a commercial airplane so to speak.

Seriously, you could say any plane. What is commercial.
Be specific.
If you said smallest airline plane, then I could still say a small plane.
The smallest commercial aircraft would be the smallest plane at your airport. Which effectively can be any, just because its not a stand up airline. Doesnt mean its not commercial.

Yes, I agree TAA_Airbus, I was confused also. Any plane that is made could be at your airport and it would be commercial. I am not sure about the smallest plane in RNO.... sorry.

In mid 1980's when deregulation forced Western Airlines to stop flying thier 737-247 on flight between Sioux Falls, SD - Pierre, SD so Mesaba Airlines (now Northwest Airlink) took over the flight with BEECH 99. It was a big adjustment for me from 737 to Beech 99...

I'll take the claim for the smallest commercial aircraft.

There are several Piper PA-18's up here in Anchorage that are operated by several air taxi companies and the Alaska State Troopers and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Yes I have see a Asiana 747-400 holding number 2 behind one of those small two seaters for takeoff

Sun Jun 04, 2000 1:32 am

Well, to make it clear... By commercial airplane I mean an airplane that belongs to an airline. Small airplanes that do not belong to an airline are called Executive Airplanes or General Aviation!! So, I guess now that's cleared up, you can put your answer on this topic!!

Thank you!! and Sorry for the misunderstanding

The smallest commercial plane at BOS is the Cessna 402, as Puck said. Next are the B1900s and the J32s. On the other end of the spectrum, the largest is the 747-400, with practically every Boeing and Airbus plane in between.

Hmmm... interesting trend here... smallest Beech 1900s and Jetstream 31/32s. There has gotta be something behind this. Though I find it interesting that an airport can both support traffic requiring a Beech 1900 and a B747.

The smallest here at TRI is either the B1900 flying under the US Airways Express banner for Commutair out of IAD, or Bombardier DHC 8's flown by Piedmont Airlines (again US Airways Express) out of CLT. I'm not sure which one is smaller, I haven't really seen them both together here.

We used to get J-31s from BNA (once again US Airways Express), and a few years ago when AA had a hub at BNA we had J-31 service from American Eagle. The J-31s were very small and kind of annoying in a way, like little gnats or mosquitoes...US Airways Express dropped that route I believe, just a few weeks ago though...I haven't seen it on the schedule :-(

As for cargo the smallest we get little FedEx feeders...mainly the Cessna Caravan.

I think these are the smallest as of now, but I'm not out at TRI all the time so I could miss something. But the B1900 and DHC8 are the smallest commuters here. We also get Dornier 328 service, but these aircraft are rather large compared to the two others I mentioned...

At RST it is Northwest Airlink Mesaba/Express I with their Saab 340s, NWA with Avro Rj's and DC-9's AA with Fokker 100's, a few years ago AA flew 727's to RST not sure why that stopped, we get every thing from Gulfstreams to B747-200,300,400 (Private)and we have a King Air operationg for the Mayo Clinic as an air ambulance.

At POS, the smallest airliner flown in is the Embraer Bandeirante of Venezuelan airline Rutaca, which flies regularly to Maturin (I do not know the code for Maturin). That is a 9-seater, I think. The next smallest is the Beech 1900 of St. Lucia- based Helenair Caribbean, which flies daily to GND, SVD and SLU. That seats 19.

POS also sees a lot of small feeder planes from FedEx and DHL which connect with larger planes to carry packeges to SJU and from ther to the world.

Rutaca also uses the Bandeirante to sister port TAB and that is thus the smallest commercial craft there too.

Actually the smallest passenger planes at Oklahoma City are the 30- seat Embraer 120s operated by ASA to DFW for Delta. Coincidentally, OKC has gained more RJ flights. UAL CRJ to ORD, AA ERJ to DFW, DAL CRJ to CVG, Continental ERJ to Houston.

Smallest scheduled aircraft at Bahrain are Airbus A320s of Gulf Air or Kuwait Airways.

DHL operate Fairchild Metro's but they aren't scheduled right?
