Actually the boat and gun shows - which do happen at least annually - are held downtown in Bartle Hall. Most if not all conventions in KC are held there now.

Great museum at the old KC Muncipal airport. Called the Aircraft History Museum. A number of retired TWA folks work there. This is where the Connie from "Aviator" is based.
Worth the time if you are ever in KC.

I grew up in the flight path of what we called the "Downtown" airport. I remember when President Jimmy Carter flew right over my house. It was pretty exciting. That was always a dangerous airport for the bigger jets. Skyscrapers on one side and the Water works park hill on the other.
