In flight service is actually good. Ground, that is another story.
Lost luggage...constantly. Misloaded luggage. No luggage tracking. Very primitive way of doing business. Manual check in, hand written boarding cards.
In Dec 02 there was talk of getting a computer check-in and baggage tracking system. It's Feb 06 and no change. There was also talk of doing Hawaii nonstop from Chicago seeing as how United and American are always booked with award travel. Seems to make sense. Fly an A330 (that's what they were trying to do it with...was to be an ex-Volare) to Hawaii and have a full airplane and all the profit. Naa. That idea was passed on . Domestic flights are what is hurting them now. Although RSW
flights are pretty packed, MCO
flights were cancelled or combined with a stop for about 3 months. Good news is that there are more international charter flights in the works, which means a more reliable source of income.
Tickets are not transferable to another airline, so if there's a delay, you're out of luck. There have been delays of up to 24 hours. They only use the word delay because they don't like the word Cancel.
All in all, Fly them. You will like them. For the price, you absolutely cannot go wrong. Flight Attendants are the best you will experience, and they really try to make the flight as comfortable and pleasant as possible. There are some exceptional people that do work there that make the flying and airport experience a pleasure. Just make sure to pack a carry-on, or risk an "Around The World Bag".
I can only hope that they get their act together and make it work right, or make some changes to make it work and not let this be another Canada3000 (GULP!)
To all my friends at ORD
and you know who you are, Good Luck! YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!
Just watching the birds go by is good enough for me.
