What To Do In DEN

Fri Feb 17, 2006 3:39 pm

Hi, I'm flying UA to DEN Saturday, and I was wondering what there is to do in the airport. I have a 4 hour layover then I'm off to LAX. Any info would help.

Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately Denver is approx 14 miles from Downtown. Closer to the airport you have limited choices. In my opinion just hang around the airport. They're are some nice gallery displays, not to mention a few bars. Me being the bad person I am, I usually grab a Johnny Walker Black, water and the internet and I'm happy. But that's just me.

Your title reminded me of this:

Probably not much help, but hey, it gave me a chuckle.

Dammit you beat me to it! However I was going the Warren Zevon route...

I called up my friend LeRoy on the phone
I said, Buddy, I'm afraid to be alone
'Cause I got some weird ideas in my head
About things to do in Denver when you're dead

I was working on a steak the other day
And I saw Waddy in the Rattlesnake Cafe
Dressed in black, tossing back a shot of rye
Finding things to do in Denver when you die

You won't need a cab to find a priest
Maybe you should find a place to stay
Some place where they never change the sheets
And you just roll around Denver all day

LeRoy says there's something you should know
Not everybody has a place to go
And home is just a place to hang your head
And dream of things to do in Denver when you're dead

You won't need a cab to find a priest
Maybe you should find a place to stay
Some place where they never change the sheets
And you just roll around Denver all day
You just roll around Denver all day

take a look around the airport i was there recently and walked around the terminal, took the airport tram and walked over the bridge from concourse A to the terminal. The center of the concorses where the train is has a diffrent style of artwork for each one and there are neon lights in the train tunnel to the terminal and propellers in the one to the concourses. the center of the main terminal has a nice fountain and artwork all over the place

Concourse B for a cup of Seattle's Best and a bite at Quizno's (they're next door to each other), then off to flirt with a UA gate agent that doesn't look too busy. At least, that's what I do in DEN.  Smile

Sample the New Belgium brews while you're in the state. There's enough bars in DEN to cover that. With "Security" to get through, and the distance from DEN to downtown, there's not really time to leave.

Cingular's WiFi network is live most of the area, but if you have a T-mo Hotspot account, hug yourself near the entrance to a RCC in Concourse B and you should be able to pick it up.

The center of Concourse B has a strange array of little shops. There's a Ferrari memorabilia store on the second level.

Hope that helps kill some of your time!

Anybody know why those propellers are there? And The train system looks similar to ATL, minus the propellers.

Buy a Colorado Lottery ticket. I've had decent luck with them.
I don't understand everything I don't know about this.

If you're there at night and you have time, get coffee and go to the main terminal, sit, and watch the roof. They (or they used to, at least) project a sky image with floating clouds, etc., for the length of the roof. Subtle but kinda cool.

Also, take the tram to Concourse A and then walk to the top of the bridge between Concourse A and the Terminal. One of the few bridges certified to have aircraft (except the A318 ) pass underneath.
