Spotting At Singapore Changi Intl. Airport

Sat Feb 18, 2006 4:36 am

Hey:

Does anyone have any advice for me about where to spot from at Changi? I am going to be there in a few days and wouldnt mind some tips about where to go to get a good view of the runway, planes on approach, etc.

Any information would be great.

Thanks
Deaphen

I went in 2004 (I think). I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't give you specifics, but there were 1 spotting area in both of the terminals. I had good views. I only watch - I don't take photos - and I had no problems doing so. Indeed, from one of the areas I saw 5 SQ 772/3 machines land in succession. I don't know whether these still exist, or, if they do, whether anything now hampers the views. Which airline are you flying? I flew LHR-MLE-CMB-SIN-CMB-LHR.  Big grin Next time I'll hopefully fly LHR-DAC-BKK-SIN-BKK-DAC-DXB-LHR.  Wink

Terminal 1 Observation is the place to be for action other than SQ.
I have never ventured outside mainly because of the heat/humidity. I have heard the police do move people on from various points around the airport. This is because the land-side of the airport is military. During the show, it could be vastly different environment.

As a side note, I will be at the airshow on Sunday.
I fly out of FUK on Saturday, fly back Monday morning. Nothing like spending some Star Alliance miles on SQ.

Good views from many places airside in the two terminals (which are in fact on and the same building at right angles). There are outdoor garden areas and then, if too hot or humid, you can view again from air-conditioned comfort inside!
