A380 First Time At LAX? When?

Mon Feb 20, 2006 2:22 am

I HOPE this is not a repeat thread...

I thought I heard the 380 would be coming to LAX some time in the Spring for logistical gate/runway/taxiway tests. I couldn't find anything on Google, though.

Does anyone know when that will be? Or is LAX simply not ready yet, and won't be 'till later in the year, closer to the first delivery date?

But if it's coming, who would like to meet me at IN n OUT for a burger and a date with history?

I would if and only if i could get cheap flights. Plus if my parents would let me go.

Well, don't worry JG. You will see her at LHR soon enough.

Maybe I will postpone my next trip to Australia until Qantas is flying her there from LAX.

I'm amazed that no one else is responding to me - I know there are a LOT of A.Neters in L.A., judging by all the great pics from LAX that have been posted.

(How's my breath??)

Maybe they are all outside on this BEAUTIFUL warm Sunday afternoon, where I should be. Sorry, East Coast.  wave

A380 First Time At LAX? When?

The North America President of Airbus has promised to make LAX the first US commercial airport for an A380 visit as a gesture of thanks to the new city leadership which has very quickly moved to begin airfield improvements needed for the A380.

From what I understand the flight will occur in the mid/late summer time frame.
From the desert to the sea, to all of Southern California

I'm dying for this too. I can hardly wait, but what I really want is a ride on it.

I'll be back in LA at the end of summer and if I am there at the same time as the A380 visit I will certainly be there with you guys....double-double animal style in one hand, camera in the other.

I would be interested in meeting up at In-N-Out provided the A380 would come to LAX on a weekend...

As it is, I was driving around the Los Angeles basin today (and it is simply a gorgeous day today. The recent rain washed all the smog out of the air) and I watched a Korean 744 circling overhead to land at LAX. I thought, wow, just how much bigger would an A380 be circling around the skies of Los Angeles than a 744? I can't wait to see that monster in person!
