Looks like some better fares are on the way for New Yorkers! Doesn't say anything about fares, just markets. Winners, losers, tie?

It just shows that
AA does not feel
B6 is even in the same leauge much less competing with
AA.

I wonder what this means: ""What we're looking at is what the next generation of airports will look like," said Maruster."
I wonder what innovating things are in the works for the new
T5.

With
DL announcing its expansion at
JFK, it seems like that airport is becoming an even more competitive market. Good for NYC, that's for sure....

Completely stupid puff piece. There's no "dogfight" at all.
AA gave up competing aggressively against JetBlue from
JFK after their disasterous triple-miles and quick-free-round-trip promotion and expansion of flights and cities. Where was the Daily News when
AA pulled out of
LGB?
SNA? Now, the best
AA can muster is "we're not going anywhere". And they finally are doing something about that embarassing piece of garbage terminal. Swell. That's a "dogfight"? Puh-leese.

On Monday, I flew
B6 JFK-
BOS on their E90, returned yesterday evening. I had a great experience with
B6 and absolutely loved the E90.
Construction on the new
T5 has ALREADY started. The satellite terminals at the end of the "tubes" have been torn down and excavation appears underway. While the new
T5 may not be ready for operations until 2009, it is clear
B6 can do with a larger facility than
T6.
BTW, will
T6 be torn down once the new
T5 is inaugurated?
If so, will
T7 be renamed "T6" and will
AA's terminal be renamed "
T7"? Curious...

The article states nothing new. Nevertheless, it's expected from the
New York Post. (I cannot disagree more with their publishing ethics. You should hve seen the little charade they pulled off about one of the U.S Olympiads this year. Disgusting.)

I haven't seen the new excavating yet. Sounds neat. Can't wait to check it out.
As for your other quetions,
T6 will be torn down and either used as a hard stand or as a 10-gate concourse that connects to the new
T5.
As far as changing the terminal numbers, I don't really see it happening. Basically, I see the new JetBlue terminal being called "Terminal 5/6".

"JetBlue says its new terminal, which will have 26 gates, will be the world's largest in terms of square footage when completed in 2009. "
Does that mean it will take over
HKG's terminal? I feel that
HKG's terminal will still be bigger than the new
B6's terminal in 2009.

While
T6 is really not too bad compared to other terminals (cough
T3 cough), I find it disappointing that
B6 would consider keeping it around after building a near billion dollar terminal. It would kill the image.
One idea though, would be to make it the "international" departure/arrival terminal for the airline, should they expand enough to warrant 10 gates solely for international flights. Or they could use it for the shuttle (or all E190) flights, too. It'll be interesting to see what comes of it, regardless.

This is the second time I hear this "T5 is going to the largest Terminal in the world" I find that hard to believe the space out there doesn't seem big at all! Interesting!.

Sorry, I failed to find that article on NYpost.com. I did however get transferred to the NYDaily News website.

I'm not sure referring to
B6 as an "air giant" is accurate, they are still in their infancy and experiencing the growing pains that go with right along with it.

Sorry, I should have stated it more clearly. The current
T6 will be knocked down, and the
land will be used as a 10-gate add-on.

It was about an Olympic ice skater from the U.S who fell twice during her performance. I watched it - the falls weren't great - but the rest of her routine was amazing. The article completely shattered her, using the word "shame" even in the title (I don't remember the exact name of it). The only picture of her was one of her falling.
The person who wrote the article had absolutely no class. I give all support to the people who perform in the Olympics because they train so hard and are so talented. I could never put someone down like the NY Daily News did. It was horrendous to see that.
