I'm just sorta playing an airline game. I am simulating what whould happen if I took over Tradewinds and Eastwind from GSO, reworked everything, then eventually bought ProAir, Vanguard, Frontier, WinAir, and Aloha. Right now I'm working on what I would do with Tradewinds' 1 L1011-1F, 3 L1011-1s, and 5 L1011-200s. Im looking into routes from GSO to Europe, MAJOR cities in North America, and Hawaii via LGB and/or DEN.

I am also setting up a regional airline (that will have nothing to do with the previous one) that will be based in GSO and fly ERJ-135s, -145s, MD-90s, and MD-95s.

I also forgot to mention that I am not only doing this for fun. I plan to start an airline out of GSO in the real world, and I am exploring all the posibilities and gaining knowledge about what works, what doesn't, and how it should work.

My advice for the L-1011s is: keep 'em going south!

For FY 1997, Tradewinds brought in over fifty million dollars from just the ONE plane going back and forth to the Caribbean twice a day. I'm not kidding, cargo makes good money. I'm not sure what the profits were for the charter fleet, but it was nearly as big.

Just a note in case you're interested in Tradewinds for real: The cargo plane is officially owned by a leasing company in Sweden, according to a plaque on the cockpit door. The charter planes are owned by the Interlease Group, based here in Illinois.

You'd need a lot more ramp space for a hub at GSO. The south Tradewinds ramp can only hold three L1011s, but you could buy the Burlington ramp next door for a little more room. Howevrer, I'm not sure exactly how much non-Fedex ramp space is planning to be built with the new runway. That'd free up plenty of space to do something substantil out of GSO. I don't see much poential for GSO as ever being a passenger hub, but I think that sooner or later a big airline will make it a maintainance base--just as United tried to do a few years ago.

SFO-DEN, ORD, DFW, and MSP on the Weekdays.
SFO-GCM (grand cayman)- MBJ (MOntego Bay, Jamaica) MSY, HNL-OGG, MCO

I would fly with 767-300 in two class operation.

Hey Fly777ual, do you know what the rotation
speed is on a B767? I love that plane. Also
what is it's GPH Gallons per hours burn ratio?
What MACH does it go? (fast).

Bryan--- what was that cash cow you were talking about in the carribb. with the cargo plane? That could have some definite possibilities!

Anyone ever think of starting a cargo op out of ORD? That has alot of cargo their and is set right in the middle of the U.S.A. I would start one with 747-400F flights to Heathrow, Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore.
