Any AA Mainline Stations That Don't See MD-80

Sat Feb 25, 2006 10:48 am

I am referring only to the lower 48 states in the USA. I guess MIA is the ironic exception.
Also, of those lower 48, any stations in the AA system that have ONLY MIA service? No DFW, ORD, STL

Forget Mailine Station One of AA largest Hubs does not have MD-80 Service.
MIA does not see one MD-80. All 738. Just like I dont think ORD sees A300s and does DFW get A300s? MIA is full of A300s from AA. Every plane of AA fleet except for MD-80s goes to MIA.

No. Not that I can think of. Eagle has serive to EYW to MIA and no where else.

Up until very recently DFW-JFK was an MD-80.

International stations (including Hawaii & Alaska and excluding Canada & Mexico) do not receive MD80 service. But those aren't included in the 48 states.

Does SNA have MD-80s? I know that ORD-SNA has either been 757s or 737s. A friend of mine, an AA 757 F/O, says it has to do with performance issues and noise abatement.

RJpieces, the JFK-DFW route hasn't been flown with MD-80s for quite some time... at least a year. It is now all 757s, and for a few months one flight was a 763.

A300s only fly the east coast... none to ORD or DFW. I think they only fly to JFK, MIA, BDL and MCO in the lower 48. SJU would be the only other "US" city they fly to.

Interestingly... no station sees EVERY aircraft type in the fleet. The closest would be MIA and DFW, but MIA has no MD-80s and DFW has no A300s.

interestintly, on the pavement at some of the gates at LAX, there are markings for the A300, though I can not recall ever seeing one of these planes there.

Isn't it true that when AA stopped flying the MD-80s to MIA they also stopped flying the 738s to ORD?

When AA first started operating the A300 they flew them out of LAX. However they stoped operating the the A300 out of LAX early or mid-90's.

Those are ferry flights for maintenance only. They do not carry passengers. But I get the point.  Smile
