Empty Rows Of Seats On Ryanair Flight.

Mon Feb 27, 2006 2:42 am

I was on my first Ryanair flight last Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006... London Stansted (STN) to Rome Ciampino (CIA), flight 3002 ... we were told sit anywhere except on the first 6 rows and the last 4. At first I thought they were being reserved for late passengers, but no one ended up seating there. Is this a common practice?

I also learned that the plane we were on is relatively new... EI-DLE was delivered to Ryanair on Feb. 9, 2006. It still smells like new. Anyone know more about it's history? Would this had been it's first revenue flight?

Thanks for any feedback.

It wasn't its first flight, I've seen it coming and going in Dublin a few times now...I remember this topic was discussed before but can't remember the answer to your question!!

The reason for the empty seats was probably the weights and balance.
But I'm sure someone with more knowledge of W&B will be able to tell you exactly why.

I travelled on FR recently from Gerona to Liverpool, and we were told not to use the first and last 6 seats.

I assumed it was to make the on board service easier to deliver, but I'm not really sure.

Anyone from FR like to elaborate?

Load balancing for a not so full flight.

I have also been kept out of the middle on a 30 passenger flight on an A319 before. We were told first 6 rows, and last 6 rows.
