I've gotten my fair share of turbulence, but I often wonder when the big one is going to hit. You know, the ones where you feel like you are falling thousands of feet, drinks flying through the air, people flying through the cabin, leaving the plane a mess with injuries to people.
Have you experienced "The Big One" yet or are you still waiting?
I'm pretty sure I'm still waiting, though I do question one or two flights.
One of them being HKG-LAX on a UA 747-422 in summer 2000. We all of a sudden dropped like an anchor, and did so several times. We all know that the 744's wings are extremely flexible, and they were flapping like a bird's during this turbulence.
Then of course, another UA flight I had, (Same trip) on a UA 727 DEN-OKC, we hit some Oklahoma storms, and spoilers UP! Drop altitude really quickly, and cruised around OKC for a while in the thunderstorm until we finally landed. It was pretty far down the runway as we had to make a U turn at the end of the runway and head back toward the gate.
The only other worse stuff I've experienced is on my dad's plane, a Cessna 335, but in that size of aircraft, I suppose turbulence is to be expected.
