Artistic Look @ Flight Patterns

Wed Mar 01, 2006 5:27 am

hey all,

i received this in an e-mail from a friend and thought i would share it with you all. i don't recall this being posted at all here. anyways, enjoy and FYI..my favorite clip is the "Overview Documentaion - Flight Patterns"

Aaron Koblin – a masters student at UCLA – used Quicktime to take an artistic look at flight patterns across the U.S. If you enjoy looking at airline route maps, be sure to check out the results.

I love it. When I was in art classes I did a whole series of paintings using the airline route map as a base. I abstracted it, the "dots" were geographically correct as far as locations (without being named), and used various colors with thin brush strokes to form imaginary route systems.

I got an A on the series by the way!
