Everything To Know About RDU..

Thu Mar 02, 2006 5:27 am

Here is the RDU Annual Report where it spells out nearly everything you ever wanted to know about RDU... including landing fees ($0.97/1000lb), state grants ($1Mil), and budget amounts..

Pretty informative if you are interested..

That's all the landing fees are there? Wow, and it's a wonder why AA and what have you keep pulling flights.
if assumptions could fly, airliners.net would be the world's busiest airport

Very nice...thanks for posting that...I am looking forward to the new Terminal C...will have to make a special trip to RDU just for that.

I know that the CLT Annual Report will be coming out soon as well. CLT's Landing Fees are currently ($0.60/1000lb) and CLT got $500K in State grants last year. Would someone from GSO get off their rear end and post the landing fees there? I hear people saying that GSO has the lowest fees yet no one will actually put a number to it.

For comparison's sake:
CLT's 2005 Revenues:
$21.6M from Concessions
$20.2M from Parking
$22.3M from Terminal Rent
$11.7M from Landing Fees
$23.8M from Cargo Area Rent
$2M from Interest
$12.1M from PFC

Well, I think RDU will be getting the SFO destination at some point this year.
After many years of wondering, I think Virgin America is going to get it's approval from the DOT, and from that point, I think it is just a matter of time till RDU gets service to SFO, either through VA or throuhg United.

Denver is going to happen at some point as well, since United can not allow Delta and Us Airways to keep drawing western traffic from RDU. That or Frontier will step in with service.
Older than I just was ,and younger than I will soo be.

United has already released where they will be expanding to from DEN for 2006 and unfortunately RDU was not on that list.

I still think the Fronteir is a possibility.

And Virign if its going to happen won't come till 2007 at the earliest.

3 years ago GSO was at $.91 per 1000 lbs.

Everything I find on the net says CLT is $.96 and that RDU $.97.

CLT is $0.60/1000lbs and its on the way down. Whatever sources you found are WAY off.

My source is the Charlotte Airport Director Jerry Orr, can't get any better than that.

I very much like CLT's Meeting minutes.. if give you everything they said.. Other airports could learn a lesson from that.. I'm impressed..

Although it upsets me that a member of the Airport Authority (Gregg) didn't know that the 717 was not a RJ.. Wow.

I hope its not a surprise to anyone that a politically appointed board would not necesarily have people on it that know what they are doing.

For the most part the Charlotte Airport Authority is just a rubber stamp for what Jerry Orr wants to do.

That is definately true and why Winston-Salem doesn't have a seat at GSO like High Point, Greensboro, Guilford County and Forsyth County do. And why the airport is still technically Greensboro-High Point International.

They were't way off, they were just a few years old. I am still waiting on the response from the airport authority in Greensboro. Like I said, 91 cents was years ago and may have gone up to finish the runways.

How does CLT get away with making the fees so low, they have to make up the money elsewhere.... right?

Didn't RDU request that a PFC be placed on those departing RDU, If so then I can see there landing fees coming down.

The answer is through effiecent operations. Jerry Orr has led that airport for 20+ years now so he knows it backwords and forwords. He is always looking ways for the airport to cut costs and increase revenues.

RDU has had a PFC in place for years now.
