Qantas 744 At AMS Last Thursday

Thu Mar 02, 2006 10:42 pm

Last Thursday, 23.02.06 I flew on a KL Cityhopper F50 from AMS to LUX and saw to my surprise a Qantas 744 parked at the Gate G5 or G7 can't remember exactly! 1st I was thinking it was there for a check but it was parked at the Gate, wo what could be the reason for that visit?

Here you are!

Edit: Just noticed, you saw one on Thursday, the link above refers to one seen on the Saturday. Heavy weather system hanging around maybe? Would they not add extra fuel to compensate for the wind?

Oli80, oeppsss my mistake, I flew on Saturday not on Thursday! When reading your mail I was checking my calendar and saw my mistake. I was a bit confused since I'm flying quiet often the route AMS - LUX and mostly departing on Thursdays and coming back on Sundays with the expection of last week. BTW, came back yesterday to AMS and the flight was delayed cause of bad weather in LUX as in AMS. Flight was supposed to leave 17H35 LUX but we got away at around 19H45. There was just 1 rwy open at AMS in the late afternoon due to heavy snowfall! Anyway I always enjoy flying KL Cityhopper's F50!

Quoting Luxair (Thread starter):
what could be the reason for that visit?

Strong winds and a prospect of a long holding period at LHR made the pilot probably decide to make a fuel stop at AMS.
