Frontier's First Canadian City.................

Fri Mar 03, 2006 12:29 pm

Looks like Calgary will be F9's launching point into Canada. YYC seemed like the obvious choice. There is quite a bit of business traffic (mining and energy) between these two cities. Hopefully this is the beginning to many more Canadian flights (I'm hoping for Ottawa). Below is a link to a Denver Post article:

According to the press release, it's going to be operated by Horizon Air, so really...it's not a "Whole Different Animal".

So you mean that those United flights YYC/DEN that are not mainline are not United flights?

Though the fares are still over 300usd!
Cookies are the Gateway pastry. They lead to Éclairs and Bear Claws.

QX's service (other than not having TV) defintately meets F9's standards. Here is a question, where did QX find the CR7?

All Horizon's CRJs are 700s, or did I misunderstand your point ?

Several QX CRJs are in Frontier JetExpress livery complete with critter-tails.

Maybe N1120A was referring to the issue QX was having, not enough aircraft to expand properly. I think they have been taking delivery of some new planes recently, does anyone know for sure?

Correct. In recent years, QX has been very tight for aircraft and has traded CR7 orders and options for Q400s. Possibly new Q400 deliveries and F9 mainline upgauges have freed up CR7s for expanded JetExpress service.

Well, it isn't Critter on those tails  wink

In the agreement with Frontier which started on 1 Jan 2004, Horizon provides 9 CR7's for the service. 8 of these are painted with Frontier JetExpress livery, while 1 is plain white. The unidentified aircraft was done so to easily swap out between JetExpress service and Horizon. There have been instances where the Frontier JE aircraft have been seen on Horizon routes.

The new Canada service will be with those existing 9 aircraft. Frontier will upgauge GEG and Dayton service over the summer to Mainline, and Tucson at the end of August when the end of summer will change demand.

The 9 aircraft are as follows: N601QX, N602QX, N605QX, N608QX, N609QX, N611QX, N616QX and N617QX. The white aircraft is N604QX.

OK, understood now  thumbsup
N619QX was delivered 31st Jan 2006 (it's in Horizon scheme).
