While I agree with RwSEA that AA will probably apply for ORD-PEK, and not DFW-PEK, daily, I agree with you, BigGSFO, that it would be smarter on AA's part to apply for DFW-PEK. AA would do quite nicely to be able to claim in its DOT filing that it will not only be opening up a new Chinese city to AA flights, but it would also be opening up a new U.S. gateway for the service, especially because it is a gateway that provides more onward connections throughout the U.S. (in terms of flights per day) tha any other U.S. hub but ATL. In addition, AA will be able to offer far more connections, more conveniently, to the 2008 Olympics in PEK via DFW than via ORD.
