Who Operates The Purple Tailed 757 In ATL On 3/3

Sun Mar 05, 2006 2:20 am

Hello all. I landed back home at ATL yesterday from SFO about 1545 and close to the DL HQ building on one of the northern parking areas was sitting a 757 with no titles and a purple and white striped tail. I thought I read the registration as N757NJ but that isn't coming up anywhere. Just curious if anyone knows who uses it since I hadn't seen it there before. Thanks in advance for the help.

If so, it's Song 757-200 N610DL, special Breast Cancer Awerness livery.

I've just checked the FAA registry and N757NJ is a cessna and the reg is still valid.

Sorry I can't help any further.

It's operated by Pace Airlines, the N-Number is N757BJ:

That's a pink tail. I do know my colors.

I just did a photo search on A.net with only 757 picked.

Bingo! That's the one. I was close on the registration. I'm guessing it does charters and such. Not too shabby looking of a plane.

I've seen it before, a few months ago at Washington Dulles. It does various charter or hiring work, I believe.

It might have carried the Sacramento Kings to play the pathetic, not worthy of playing a suburban girls high school team Hawks. I know Pace does alot sports charters.

That's an old airplane. It's the 14th 757 off the line. First delivered as G-BKRM Air Europe March 30,1983.

My thought originally that it was in town dropping off the Washington Crapitols. It left ATL for IAD last night at 2324. It appears it is the Kings' charter, as the Kings play the Wizards tomorrow.

Yikes!! I never realised how old some 757's are. It'll soon be 23 years. IIRC didnt some carrier(s) replace their old 752 with newer ones ? It was one of the British charter ones I think, also BA did too IIRC  Smile

When the Song concept came out purple was gonna be a color too  Smile

I won't argue that fact. They suck more than anything has ever sucked before.

Looks pretty good for its age. Did this one ever fly in Hooters colors since it is a Pace plane?

Nope, as it's set up in a sports charter configuration, a nice one at that (76 first class seats, 30 coach; interestingly enough, the flight from ATL to IAD it made last night was listed on Flytecomm as being a Hooters Air flight. That's a bit much of an a/c for an NBA team to be using.

Rolls Royce RB211s

The aircraft pictured has the Rolls Royce RB211-535C engines. These have a shorter cowl/nacelle than the RB211535-Es found on most 757s. Some RB211-535C 757s were later re-engined with the RB211-535E, such as G-MOND of Monarch Airlines (somewhere between 1983 and 1986):

The same aircraft is still in service with Monarch:
