Aeroflot-Nord (ex AVL/ Arkhangelskiye Vozdushniye Linii) will acquire 737s by the end of the year according to their website; in addition 18 stewards and stewardesses have started training in Frankfurt. They plan to take five aircraft until RRJs are available. The director is confident of their ability to handle far north operations.
It is unclear whether these will supplant or augment the Tu-154s. I flew on an awesome Tu-154b2 in 2004 from SVO-MMK and it would be sad to see her go, but I understand its terrible operating economics. AVL has a variety of Tu-134s and some AN-24RVs (not to be confused with a flying camper RV). Their international destinations are currently Luleo, Rovaniemi, Tromso, and Simferopol.
