Hmm, good news for KIR @ the expense of ORK... but more whinging from FR.

If this really was the case re. cost, then why no reduction in the ORK-DUB and/or ORK-STN routes?

Similar announcement to a few years back when FR switched the majority of their SNN-HHN services to KIR.

So according to FR this is over E1.50 per passenger.

Personally if I wanted to go to Cork, I would rather pay the E1.50 rather than go to Kerry and find my own way back.

It is not clear when this takes effect or the cost implications to FR of making this move.

Well of course its easy to blame the airport of course, whether or not that was the reason behind the switch.

More likely one of their special airport deals came to an end and Cork was not quite so generous this time around....

You got to love FR's expression about Cork's "Taj-Mahal-like terminal" and

Quote:
idiotic way to run an airport and is a direct result of the Government's transport policies of overspending and making its regional airports uncompetitive by building lavish and expensive facilities which passengers and visiting tourists are not prepared to pay for.

It was not that long ago that MOL was complaining about the new Taj-Mahal terminal and Mickey Mouse trains at STN, but FR do have valid arguments.

Just another example of the usual Ryanair bollo*!s. If the issue really was about increased charges then it would simply pull all its flights and go elsewhere. The real reason for the reduction in LPL-ORK services will, no doubt, be that too few people wanted to travel on it to justify a daily service.

Or would add them on to the fares

Better off without Ryanair anyway, get an airline in that will actually give the airport money.

Great, i'm guessing that means the London-Cork fares will be rising. No more £5.01 fares  Sad

LPL-ORK will still be 4x weekly, won't be completely cut.

MOL is full of crap, whenever a route performs badly they come up with "airport charges" as a reason for cutting services. MOL and the truth have never tallied properly.
