The Never Ending Peter Max Thread Part IV

Thu Mar 09, 2006 8:12 pm

PHX spotters might have thier tripods ready and lens caps off around 1030 this morning for a viewing of Peter Max.
It's politically sensitive, but it's going to happen.

Was at PHX at 11.30 by chance. Saw the infamous bird parked up near the executive terminal, right next to the road.

Not my idea of a good paint scheme but, each to their own...I guess it's art. I thought it made the T7 look a bit short and fat.

In anycase, its good to see something different at PHX.

It wasn't mentioned in the original thread that alerted PHX spotters to the visit, but does anyone know if there will be another charter in the near future to take them back to EWR?

In any event, it was quite a sight to see Peter Max here in the Valley. Thank you IAHcsr for maintaining these threads!

As an artist I have always been completely under-whelmed by Peter Max. but he sure is one hell of a businessman. He was famous for his 'acid art' in the 70's. It's odd that a drug using tax evader was able to squirm himself into so many different products..... but I didn't say it!

In the LOL department, wouldn't you feel safe flying on an a/c 'painted' by a stoned out criminal? I don't know. Marketing depts are frequently off base.

My $0.02.

(But then again.... as long as they never let him in the f/d...?1?!)  Smile

To be honest with you, the paint job is horrible!!!!! I like it though because it makes the aircraft unique. It reminds me of G-VMIA "Spirit of Sir Freddie" which was a Virgin Atlantic 747-100. It was the only -100 they had and it was watched similar to this aircraft.

I am going to be at EWR on April 23 in the early afternoon for a flight out to HNL. Will Max be there also?

Return Charter is on the 12th. Before 1200hr. Max will most likely be headed back fromPEK or to IAH that day.

WAY too early to know... But most EWR inbound 777s arrive after 1300hrs, so the odds are not in your favor...

I can't recall the exact time.. But I know it's between 900-1130-ish.. PHX time. Since it's a charter, It won't show as a valid flight number though Continental.Com... But can be seen via other tracking websites.

When was the last time CO had a scheduled Domestic routing of a 777? I have looked through the end of the Summer and do not see any. Any chance of ever getting MAX on a scheduled Domestic run?

Last I remember was a once daily run between EWR and IAH, but that ended a while ago. I think it may have ended in 2004, someone else can correct or confirm.

FINALLY saw Peter Max landing today at EWR!!! I've seen the pictures, but what a magnificent looking aircraft when you see it in person! After following this thread for a LONG time I was really excited to see this graceful bird with my own eyeballs!!!!

Of course I slowed WAY down to 45 mph on the Turnpike to watch this beauty land, I told my wife to watch the road
