Just read on Pprune, that a BA 747 has diverted into LTN due poor weather at LHR.

Nope - football charters have made it in before. It should be fine for a positioning flight to LHR, particularly if the pax can all be bussed from LTN.

Seems odd that it is a wx diversion, hardly seems like diversion conditions!

Yeah the Luton yahoo list states that it is a fuel diversion. It's the first -400 series to visit Luton i think.

What weather conditions could make this flight 'run out' of fuel?!?

Unusual for it not to go to LGW. Must have been low on fuel.

No doubt that will probably come up on my sim course now.  Yeah sure

So would BA just have put everyone on a coach to LHR then? or would they actually fly everyone for 10 mins!?!
Sorry about the weird question, but i have no idea! I'm surprised the LTN runway could handle a 747, not the longest runway in the world!!
