Nosewheel On SAS Aircraft Collapsed

Fri Mar 10, 2006 6:56 am

Sorry. Was only able to find a danish newssource, and wasn't able to find a similar thread in the database, so I suppose I am the first one to post this.

this is my source: http://nyhederne.tv2.dk/article.php?id=3796433&forside
I translated it the best way I could.

"The SAS aircraft SK 2869, that was supposed to fly at 5:50 pm from Bergen in Norway to Copenhagen with 54 passengers had an incident today, when the nosewheel collapsed just before takeoff, according to the Norwegian newspaper Bergens Tidende.

"We were taxiing out to the runway, when the aircraft started to shake (vibrate). We went back again, when the captain announced that the wheel had exploded", says a passenger, Trond Koldal. According to the passenger, the captain afterwards said, that it was a good thing that the incident happened before takeoff, because there would have been full of ambulances and firetrucks in Kastrup"

lol wonder why the captain thinks that is a bad thing...

edit: spelling

Pretty sure it was a Fokker F50 or a DHC8. Usually you see those types with SAS on these kind of routes, especially if there´s only 50 passengers aboard.

The flight was operated by SAS Denmark and therefore no Fokker 50. According to BT (newspaper in Bergen) it was LN-RDE - Dash-8-Q400.

An this newspaper says the it was a wheel baring in the nose gear that "exploded" during taxiing.
