SN RJ85 Mergencylanding In GOT

Hey

An SN RJ85 took of from GOT a couple of hours ago when the crew noticed that the nosewheel didn't work properly. So the aircraft made an emergencylanding back at GOT but the wheel couldn't handle it, so it broke. Sparkles appeared and smoke filled the cabin. But the plane made a stop and all 28 pax plus crew made it out safe...

Should we start again the argument about loads and yields? Maybe they were mostly upfront in that case the flight would more than break even.

Which could be expected on a Friday night back to Brussels. Although some weekend breakers might as well be part of the equation.

Hello BrightCedars,

A load of 28 pax on an 82 seater = 34% load factor, which is obviously rather low.
A 40-50 seater could have carried this kind of load as well, possibly at a lower cost.

Let's hope for SN that these 28 have indeed paid a reasonable fare. My best guess would be that all these 28 pax have paid an average fare of 180-200 EUR for that particular segment => this flight may have generated 5040-5600 EUR total revenue. I'm not familiar with the operating costs of an RJ85, however I would guess that this kind of revenue would not be sufficient to cover the costs of a 1,5 hour flight with an AVRO.

I suppose that the affected flight was SN2274 GOT-BRU 16:55-18:45.
I would think that this is quite a good schedule for a Friday evening and also I would expect that a Friday evening should attract stronger traffic than -let's say- a Monday or Tuesday evening.

I would also expect that the outbound SN2273 BRU-GOT 14:35-1620 in general does not generate too much revenue either...

Hopefully the real revenue picture is more pretty, however I would also have responded like ...

Well, I would really like to know more about this incident, since I was on the Air France flight getting to GOT that night, and we were diverted (Save airport in GOT), since the airport was closed to traffic till 2am. I guess no pics either of the happening? I tried to see the aircraft today when getting back to CDG, but wouldn't see it.

Any news anyone?

Yes I know, and later I read that the load was actually 22 pax (!!!), and 6 in the crew, now thats even lower...
I was at GOT a couple of weeks ago, and saw the pax from SN2271 (09.30-11.20) coming out from the aircraft after landing from BRU, and there were about 35 or so, I think...

No, actually the flight was SN2276, 19.30-21.15 (but the flight was delayed by more than an hour for unknown reason.

that seems a lot to me certainly with that load
Last year I flew a SN RJ100 and there were only 4 crew and the airplane was full
