Odd Night Flying Over Southampton UK

Sat Mar 11, 2006 7:58 pm

On thursday night (9-3-06) at approximatley 11.00pm, what appeared to be a twin prop plane, something like a Dash 8 or similar, maybe smaller (sorry was dark so couldn't identify) began a series of wide circles over the city of Southampton. It continued to do so for well over an hour keeping within the confines of the city.

I am curious to know whether anyone has any knowledge to its reason for keeping much of Southampton awake on an otherwise quiet night. Just curious really. Is it likely a training excercise, and if so, why over a city at night.

Any thoughts,

Kind Regards, HF

I suspect this could have been a police plane. I dont know if the have one down your way but we often have a Britten Norman twin prob flying for periods of time at one place obviously searching for a police related incident.
