Anybody Have A Southwest Award To Trade?

Mon Mar 13, 2006 11:52 am

Hey guys,

I'm in a bit of a bind...I have some mid-April plans out in PHX, and had intended on using an imminent Southwest Rapid Rewards award to book travel to and from ISP.

However, I won't have my own award available for another 1-2 weeks...my qualifying flight is March 18, but, seeing as this would be a "new" award (with restricted seats and no blackout dates), there are only 5 seats left on the flight I need to get home on and I'm officially desperate.

So to secure a seat, my only option appears to be trading rewards. Here's the plea: If you have a roundtrip Southwest Rapid Rewards award currently in your account and use it to book my travel ASAP, I will use my reward (as soon as I receive it) to book your free trip.

No money, no hassle. Just a quick agreement and a few clicks of the mouse is all it takes!  Smile

If you're interested or have any questions, please contact me through my profile.

Thanks a LOT!

I need to be a member with 90 days and/or 90 posts under my belt in order to participate in that forum. I don't meet either of those requirements. (The post will also be deleted if I put it up in any other forum.)

Is there anybody on A.net that is interested in trading rewards with me?

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,

You might have an easier chance if you can convince someone to 'temporarily' book an itinerary for themselves using their award travel for the exact flights you want. Once your award comes in, you can then arrange a day/time where (s)he will cancel her/his travel and you'll immediately jump in and grab that award seat that just opened up.

The one thing that may nix this whole deal, though, is if that award travel is of the 'old' type (no restrictions on seats) and for whatever reason it does not mix with the 'new' type. In that case, when the award travel is cancelled, its possible an award seat would not open up. I'd offer to try that for you but I need my reward ticket for another flight I'm taking soon.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion, PropClear. However, since awards are fully transferable, this seems to be a pretty circuitous route when someone could just use their 16 points to book travel under my name (and vice versa). Either way, anyone who takes me up on this deal will still have to wait until I have my own award deposited in my account (within a few days of March 18 - not a very long time at all) before they can go anywhere for free.

You can't wait until about a week to book your own reward travel, could you?  Smile

Besides, a SWA rep just told me that seats are not always put back into the system the way you describe. The chances of a cancelled award reservation becoming available for me to pick up are very, very slim. (This means that your idea would not work. Also, I can't buy the ticket with money then cancel it and pick up the newly-opened seat with my reward.)

So, does ANYONE have ANYTHING that can help me out? There are only 4 seats left on the flight I need!

Thanks,

1 seat left. Surely there has to be someone on these boards with an SWA award?
