EL AL Bag Tags

Mon Mar 13, 2006 2:12 pm

Noticed LY adds additional tags onto checked bags and carry-on items with large letters: F KO F+ KO+ K S T
One of the letters gets circled. What would this be about? Connecting baggage? Class of service? Security checks?

The circle K means "Kosher", testimony that an Orthodox rabbi has researched, evaluated and certified the ingredients as kosher.

These are security classifications.
Each pax is interrogated by a security agent and then they get a classification.

are you at liberty to say what these symbols then imply? might they deem one person a potentially greater threat than someone else, but let both people on the plane? do the air marshals then keep a special watch on that person? Knowing El Al, and having been succumbed to a 45-minute interrogation before flying CAI-TLV last summer, I can't imagine they'd let people on that they had the slightest doubt about. But if they did, I was probably one of them, as the marshal sat right next to me.

Even if s/he is - please don't. Frankly I can't concieve of any reason why even an A-nutter would want to know this.

Thanks for the reply.

I do not need specifics, especially if this is related to EL AL security.

I was just wondering what this was used for. Noticed every time I have flown on LY, they always have the same letter circled on my bags after being interviewed.

Kind of bizarre combination of letters and symbols actually.

Notice it's only on incoming flight to TLV. Outgoing flights don't get that sticker.

But they have similar stickers with Hebrew letters and numbers on outgoing flights.
